Signing day is kind of weird timing as it falls in the meat of the season, but obviously leads to some speculation for next year. But seems like all 4 signings could play immediately next year.
Heard simon is really good, will probably push Lola for the Libero Jersey, but I do think having a lot of good littles will be key next year with Franklin and Orzol leaving, will probably DS 2/3 pins. Will need good passing without Smrek and Franklin to hit OOS
Wardlow will probably compete with Serafinowska for the other middle spot with Booth, Idk how good either of them are but both have some hype
Quest seems likea star, will probably slot into Franklins spot, obviously will be a drop off from 5th year senior to a freshman, but I bet she's like charlie, Sheffield will play her as much as possible with creating a long term star in mind even if she has some freshman struggles, Vagajic and TSC will have to be really good to take her spot
Horner has a clear spot to starting with no other RS on the roster, i didn't realize she was 6'3. Wonder if they will try anything creative to get her setting and hitting skills involved. I do think they will work hard on getting another RS in the portal this offseason (Kennedy Martin you'd look great in red!)
What do people think?

LOL, Wisconsin weather couldn't keep Martin after spending a bit of time here in HS, but one can dream. I think Smrek's recent play has shown how important an effective RS is; the problem is so many top teams will be needing to replace an RS (Nebraska, Texas, etc.) so I guess we can hope the staff has been in touch with an international athlete looking to get a degree in the US.

The email for season ticket holder applications for NCAA tournament tickets was in my in-box this AM. First weekend Thursday and Friday, Dec 5 and 6. Second weekend would be Thursday the 12th and Saturday the 14th. Finally the request went through. Kept getting site can't be reached errors, and would happen at different times during the process. Sometimes just trying to login to my account, and other times after clicking order.

I'm not so sure of that. I felt that Reilly was overrated last year and didn't set well in big games or when she was out of system. Which, may have been a freshman thing because I haven't seen that this year. Getting them out of system is necessary. But I wouldn't call it a weakness for them. Not this year. Have they ever been out of system this year really? Its just so much harder to get them out of system with the addition of Mauch The problem is we need to 1) get them OOS, and 2) stop Merb -- both of those things happening in one match has been hard. We should really look more at how SMU dismantled them, imo.

I don't buy the bad matchup argument for the huskers win. I actually like Sheffs rundown of the husker match. It was pretty mundane. Badgers just didn't execute in a few keys ways that made their offense one dimensional, and the huskers did execute. Cook teams always have always tried to wear you down with execution since he was in Madison. I agree Nebraska doesn't have I would call a weakness this year. They are strong across the board. Still the badgers in conference, despite a couple poor performances, are better than them stats wise in almost every category. The Huskers have just been steady match to match and the badgers have not. A freshman setter and libero will do that to you. I hope this PSU match makes them realize how good they can be. They were playing free in the last two sets.
I also do not think the difference in the husker match was the husker offense. The badgers still kept the huskers to 100 points under their season average HP. I think the badgers D did OK against the huskers despite the effective RS attack - just ok, but still good enough to win. You take your lumps and limit the damage. But I still maintain there is no way this badger team with a good 2nd and 3rd touch should ever hit <0.100 when they are passing 2.13 - even against a top tier defensive team. The fact that our only real working options were from the LS was a problem AND an anomaly. There is no way Franklin gets to see a regular triple block if Smrek is successfully swinging from the RS, or there is a working middle gap set (the 2nd tempo middle sets were too easy to read). They have to pay for that kind of commitment and the badgers just did not execute.
That match revealed some badger weaknesses, but they were not fundamental ones that can't be addressed with this squad. I'm used to huskers coming out strong in set 1. Sets 2 and 3 were neck and neck until about just around 20 points, and then the badgers just completely wilted at the end of each of those sets - an accumulation of errors caused each of those runs (and I include the coaches not even trying to challenge some calls). One or two things go right during those runs, and we could be singing a very different story these days. That lack of resilience in tight sets at crunch time has been a bit of a theme all year long - though they've gotten better with time.

Sheff likes her passing platform but felt she just hadn't seen enough of high level serves. Quest may need some time to develop as a 6 ro outside. I also like the look of Serafinowska and I wonder if her or Wardlow could go RS, at least in some rotations. We will be up to our ears with really good back row players.

BadgerVB IG account has posts up for our 4 2025 recruits. Super talented group coming in with 3 in PrepDig's top 17 with Simon being a true diamond-in-the-rough. Where does everyone rank? Curious who the “best” player is

TSC looked so green and just doesn't have the experience of playing at this level. Una has tons of experience, including playing against top European pro teams, many international appearances for her country, etc. Unless somehow her injury sets her back significantly, I expect Una will be our other starting OH. I also fully expect Una to play all 6 rotations as she came in as a very good passer. Una/Madison will be a very dynamic duo next year, sliding right in for Sarah and Oz.

Una is a finished article and would slot in nicely, but I do think that TSC has a higher ceiling just because of her athleticism. She might improve a lot over the next year.

I could get behind the idea that this current Badgers team has a really high ceiling but can be volatile because we rely heavily on 2 freshmen starters at key positions. If Charlie is at her Penn State game level, we are very difficult to beat.

Lmfao anyone who doesn’t have Una in the starting line up next year is crazy. The girl has senior Serbian NT potential (and for those unaware that’s a very very elite national team)
