For me it's better to go safe placements at the risk of predictability rather than going for unpredictable less consistent serves but the best teams can consistently do unpredictable serves with a high consistency of placements such as Minnie and Nebraska. It not only troubles us but it troubles every team not equipped to deal with elite serving teams. I'm curious, how do teams shut Anna down? Is it because their blockers can reach high enough, or is she getting sub optimal sets due to putting Charlie under pressure, or is she simply a bad day? Because when in form, she can hit .300 on a consistent basis. I expect Nebraska to shut her down if things don't improve because if you shut Anna down, then the Badgers start to over rely on Sarah which makes the team more predictable. I think it’s 3 things. You try to keep good service pressure up. This comes and goes. You tip the setter so she can’t get it to Anna in her window. And you cheat off the middles and hope they don’t burn you. Minnesota match #2
Points scored during the serve of server:
Orzol: 7 points scored, 10 times serve lost Franklin: 12 points scored, 12 times serve lost Charlie: 5 points scored, 10 times serve lost CC: 3 points scored, 9 times serve lost Carly: 7 points scored, 9 times serve lost Saige: 8 points scored, 10 times serve lost
Through the first three sets, Franklin had scored on only 2 serves, losing 8 serves. For the 4th and 5th sets, Sheffield "spun the dial", changing the rotation starting point and the matchups. In the 4th and 5th sets, Frank scored on 10 serves and only lost 4 serves. Whatever that change in rotation did, it sure worked when it came to Frank's serving.
-----------
Sideout percents by server for the year all matches (lower number the better)
Charlie: 0.512 Orzol: 0.527 GG: 0.508 Franklin: 0.540 Schumacher: 0.522 CC: 0.588 Devyn: 0.648 Smrek: 0.714 Chan: 0.682 Carly: 0.500 Van Wie: 0.500 Damrow: 0.569 Booth: 0.500

Do we think Lola & GG will be back for the Nebraska game? I don't think Lola was even in the building tonight. FWIW. That’s following standard concussion protocol to avoid loud noises. I was shocked she was sitting on the bench after she got hurt in warm ups last match. Thought they would have left her in the locker room with a trainer. Who was it that got a concussion a year or two ago and was missing from the sideline for a match? One of the setters maybe?

All 3 middles had some nice clutch late plays. Nice to see.

She was missing for about a week and a half until the Nebraska match last year

She was wearing dark glasses and earplugs, so they were at least trying minimize stimuli.

The sideout percentages disagree with this statement

It doesn’t matter what you think they look like. The stats suggest otherwise. Wisconsin is an excellent serving team. lol, almost cost us the game tomight. Franklin brought it. Thats about it tonight. There were more positives than that! Robinson showed up right when we needed her. CC closed out the match with a great read on a Shaff dump and then a good close to the pin. Damrow wasn't passing dimes, but she stepped up in the 5th set when we needed her.

Damrow seems like she has the best passing form on team. But she also seems to have a high error rate so far. Like she is the type of passer giving you 0s and 3s. Where as I do think Lola is better at avoiding 0s.
