We need to get Lola back and GG back. I feel like Lola's personality is somehow key to the chemistry mix on the court, and the serving we've lost with those two out has been huge. It took all of a month to work through balancing service aggression and service errors. We don't have that kind of time.

So bracketology has the Badgers as the 7 or 8. Assuming* we get that far, who would you rather take on in a regional final, Nebraska or Pitt, and why? Who do you think we match up better against? Would you rather play a team a third time, or try to flip the Regional Final spoiler role with Pitt. I guess I'm thinking we could apply service pressure better on Pitt (if we are healthy) and get the block involved more. And regardless of opponent, I think we need to get Devyn the ball more and have her produce to open up the block for Frank (and Orzol).
BTW, I'm not assuming the Badgers get that far, some dangerous teams in the 2nd round, and then possibly Texas, Kansas, ASU, Purdue... in the regional semi.

In the red zone and they fall apart again. Service error and net violation. They have said several times this year that when they get to the 20 point mark in a tight game that's when they shine. All evidence to the contrary... This year it's been when they fall apart. We lost our two starting BR players. It was bound to happen. GG is the best defender and OOS setter, and Lola is our best BR passer and 2nd best OOS setter. You can't win against top comp playing with a limp. Three games is not enough to get Saige and Maile in form. CF still struggles in OOS setting, or her hitters struggle dealing with her sets. Still, that was disappointing showing. I agree with what you're saying about GG and Lola. Especially GGs OOS. However, this was happening all season (against any higher rated competition.) They just seem mentally weak to me. (Notice I said "seem to me".)

Devyn drafted #5 overall in PVF to San Diego. Devyn is a quality player. Seems to be behind Smrek for RS at the Badgers. I think if Devyn becomes the number 1 option then we'll see her numbers go up with consistency.

The home advantage is not as big, revenge factor for them beating us at the Field House a couple of years ago in regional finals, and most importantly NE beat us twice already. That's not to say that I think we would beat Pitt, but just in terms of who I'd like to see us play.

CC picked #16 by the Indy Ignite, announced by Izzy Ashburn (who apparently is putting her math and MBA degrees to use for the Ignite?)

In the glass half full argument, Damrow and Chan have now gotten meaningful playing time against good teams. Damrow has clearly made strides from earlier in the season, probably helped by being further from injury and being able to get more practice reps. She has put up quite a few 3 passes. I am focused on the rest of this season, of course, and I think the Badgers still have a very high ceiling, but this also bodes well for 2025. Adding Simon to the mix means the Badgers will project to have a lot of back row depth, which could ease the transition for the new to the lineup pin hitters, as they can focus mainly on front row play. With subs, maybe a rotation or two per set, if that?

Pitt is one of the best serving teams in the country and is leading the NCAA in hitting percentage and opponent hitting percentage. I can't say we would have much of a chance against either Pitt or Nebraska but I would take my chances with Nebraska.

I think we're still safe to get a 2 seed in the tournament. So, we have 4 home games left vs. easy opponents over the next 2 weeks. Hopefully that's enough time to get Lola and GG back into the lineup and tune up our game. Lots of practice time opportunities as well over the next couple of weeks at home. To get to Elite 8, we'll need to win on a neutral court vs. a team like AZ State, Purdue, Kansas, Texas and such. We have shown we can beat teams of this caliber (early TX loss aside), but we'll need to bring it. If we make it past that, we'll be up against a home team like Pitt, NE, Louisville or PSU/Creighton/Stanford. If we make it that far, and we're healthy, anything can happen. Obviously, it would be nice to avoid NE or Pitt, but I'm not too optimistic about that, but who knows. I would love to get another crack at Louisville or Stanford in Elite 8. We are 10th in KPI which I believe is factored in to the seeding. Not sure we get a 2 seed. We won't get the 5/6 seed, so honestly I think I'd rather get a 11/12 seed over a 7-10 seed so we would avoid Nebraska/Pittsburgh in the regionals.

I think we have a hard road to the final four. I’d feel better if we were at Lousisville or Penn State. If those aren’t options let’s go round three with Nebraska. Pitt just looks a strong. With that being said, I’m having fun listening to the PVF draft. Do you think Smrek or Orzol get picked or will they be going over seas?
