I mean, when Horner gets here they could run a 6-2 with no subs lol. That would be a 5-2? No - okay, so first of all I was joking, I don't see them doing it. But I meant a legit 6-2 where both Fuerbringer and Horner set while in the backrow and hit RS in the front row. Basically, picture last year except that neither Devyn or Anna play and both Izzy and MJ were right side hitters while in the front row. And to be honest, even with that lineup I'd expect a 5-1 with Charlie setting all the way around. That being said, if Charlie is front row and ends up having to hit the first ball, she definitely could also hit right side on that play. A 5-2 would mean probably Fuerbringer setting only back row and Horner (at 6'3") setting front row, and I don't see that happening at all. Fuerbringer can make plays while front row and also can block well for her height; she won't be a liability.

With how elite Charlie is, I think the team should run a 5-1 setup. Charlie's blocking is actually solid. But it maybe tempting to run a 6-2 since the team has more cohesion with it.

So, I know Pierce had a great day, but she was MVP over Charlie because? Charlie with more of an all around great game, and does Pierce get those stats with a different setter? I mean, if sets aren't there she doesn't get the kills.

Pierce also didn’t play during the 2nd set so 20k and .485% in 4 sets makes it more impressive.

Lincoln Arneal posted this on his "X" feed. For those who are interested, Taylor covers all the bases in terms of "Why Nebraska?". If you factor NIL into the information Taylor provided, it's not a stretch to conclude that Nebraska was always in the best position when it came down to choosing between The Huskers and The Badgers. huskersillustrated.com/former-big-ten-player-of-the-year-says-shes-a-husker/

I haven't seen Pierce play in any other games... but if that's her regular level of play, I'm now more convinced than ever that JC picked up Landfair just to keep her away from other teams.

I've seen 17 kills and hitting .536 (per Volleyball Mag) for Pierce... Incredibly impressive numbers, yes. How many assists, digs, and aces did she have? Fuerbringer had six kills in 15 errorless attacks (.400), 27 assists, an ace and five digs. I wasn't saying Pierce was not great. Really this isn't that important. Just having a thought. And part of it for me comes from my belief that the most valuable player in a sport/game isn't always the flashiest one.

By this logic no hitter should ever get mvp unless they’re scoring off a bunch of bad sets from their setter By this logic no setter should ever get MVP unless their hitters are having a monster night. Would you expect a hitter to have a monster night with a bunch of bad sets? (And, no, I'm not saying a hitter should only get MVP if they're scoring off a bunch of bad sets.) How many balls did Pierce set to herself? As I said to another, not that important. In general I just don't like that MVP often goes to the flash, and not the work behind the flash, without which, that person wouldn't be MVP, so what exactly is more valuable. Was Pierce worthy of it, sure. Is it okay to consider other options, not often on social media, the land of "my way or the highway".

She was very impressive. Won’t be surprised if she pushes someone to the bench as a freshman. With that kind of talent I’m not sure she’ll be happy sitting and/or redshirting if she thinks she’s playing at a level better than someone who is. Maybe Nebraska staff will actually talk to her about it instead of just deciding for her mid match.

I watched this UA match two years ago (really just to see Ella Wrobel for the first time) and Alexa Stucky won MVP as a setter. She was really impressive, so her immediate success at Florida was no surprise. I hope her rehab is going well and that she gets back to her pre-injury level.
