Starter? No I definitely think she can make it though I dont mean to be rude, but hasn't washington been flopping lately? I watched her score 14 points in 3 sets last week against a good Trinto team. I’d say she’s doing just fine. She got benched in the VNL though, for Rettke. |

O'Neal is graduating, right? Maybe we can hire her over the summer to serve bombs at practice. They should have gotten more practice on a gym floor above an ice rink before the final 4. (Unless they did and I didn't hear about it). The ball can move more and it sure didn't look like they were ready to handle that. It wasn't about freshman vs experienced players, at this point they have all had lots of volleyball mileage. It was simply a serve and pass match, because at this level, in system termination is high on both sides of the net. Anyway, some of our outsides were suspect in serve receive plenty of times this year. It caught up to us in the natty. I always think it's funny how in highschool the seniors are getting kudos for their experience and the underclassmen get their knocks. The seniors get praised for a good play because of their experience..."oh that was a senior play!". And then that same player goes to the next level and all of a sudden, "oh that was a freshman mistake", they lack experience, blah blah blah. and then it's the pro level and same thing all over again. It's mostly garbage talk to fill up the air. That's because college is a wholly different game than high school volleyball. They're going up against college seniors and juniors so it makes sense that for college they're making freshman mistakes, whereas as a senior in high school they were doing really great at the high school game. |

Portal? I don’t foresee any major “gets” from the portal for Nebraska. There was a bunch of portal tea about Landfair going to Nebraska. I'm guessing that was what was being referred to. Hopefully she ends up in Nebraska … that would be a hot mess I’d be willing to watch 😀 |

The thing is… Reyes is not wrong. She will produce more as a fifth-year senior. The problem is that Cook never had a conversation with Caroline first. Surprising at the utter lack of communication from this seasoned Nebraska coaching staff. JC, Jaylen, Kelly....somebody should have made the effort during that game, or after the second set, to communicate their thoughts and decision to Caroline. Boggles my mind that they didn't, and let it wait until the next day. I love my Huskers just as much as anyone, but if we're getting the correct story from the Athletic article, this was managed horribly. The whole thing is just weird. They are making it sound like CJ told them of her intention to do a 5 year degree during the memorial stadium match or something. Which was not what happened. So if it was conveyed to Jaylen prior, then him and Cook should have had that redshirt plan and talked with CJ before the stadium match, instead of dashing that poor girl's hopes and putting her through that. They want us to believe Jaylen was just out there being a part-time academic counsellor on the sidelines at memorial. So fishy and doesn't add up. |

There was a bunch of portal tea about Landfair going to Nebraska. I'm guessing that was what was being referred to. Does speculation about Landfair to Nebraska make any sense? Assuming no other transfers out, they will have four scholarship OH's on the roster next fall - Murray, Krause, Batenhorst and Pierce. Why would they need Landfair? She has two years of eligibility left. After next season we lose 3 pins. And we only has 1 RS on the roster right now. |

Remeber all the hate I got for stating this was happening and evryone demanding proof? Well, how would they have decided that during the stadium match, if i heard this prior? It was certainly discussed. Also, ORR was potentially red shirting this season too, but chose to participate anyway possible for the team, which led to her serving sub role. God bless her! This whole line of cook being this evil thing is such an eye roll. Vicious wasn't shocked during that stadium match and if she was, yikes. I know I certainly wasn't. |

I believe Mauch was not going to be on scholarship right away, but with 2 players leaving via the portal I wonder if they give one of those scholarships to Mauch so she can be on scholarship from day 1? Or does Cook look to the portal for another right-side hitter? |

The freshman will improve. NE had freshman playing against elite level 5th year players. Not surprisingly the elite 5th year players prevailed over the freshman. I think that was what JC was trying to say in the press conference, but some interpreted it differently. No one interpreted anything Cook was being an ass. He was mad he lost, which I totally understand, but as a coach, he needs to work on his public speaking/media training. even nebraska fans thought he was being an ass. We get it, you hate Cook. Every post you have about him uses overly dramatic language… but I suppose that’s part of what volleytalk is. |

The game is definitely faster and more powerful but some of the mistakes have nothing to do with that. |

Nebraska can get by with five pins for 2024. Plus three middles if MM is solid here and two sports. If the roster is status quo for the 2024 season. But in the spring of the five true juniors, how many will earn their degrees? Which brings up graduation opening up NIL options over being on scholarship? How many if possible? Nebraska will be trying to garner scholarship players to replace and, hopefully, improve that position on the team.
