Cook should have never had her at the follow-up presser. You should never endorse taking away a platform for women to speak. Harper had every right being at the press conference. She was a sore loser and bad example for so many young players who look up to her. All I could see was pouting. Donât get me wrong, itâs completely understandable to be disappointed and bummed about losing a huge match, but the way she handled herself (even when coming back to NE from Tampa with all the fans greeting the team) was even more disappointing. No excusing that behavior. Considering the absurdity of some of the questions asked by a few reporters, Harper handled the press conference like a pro. Harper wasnât at the table to let a few reporters try it with her. đ Likewise, she wasnât putting out soundbites for opposing teamsâ fanbases. During the press conference, I couldnât help but draw parallels to the way Harper answers questions like Serena during post-match interviews, since tennis attracts the most rando reporters asking the most asinine questions. If you think your opinions are influential, though, Iâll tell you now that Harper wonât be pondering in future interviews what rando Volleytalkers from opposing fanbases want her to say. đŽ I donât think Harper handled the media well, BUT, she should not have had too. She was obviously emotional. These things can wait. Even professional athletes struggle at times. And the questions were stupid as hell too. I donât blame her for being annoyed

It's weird that people love press conferences when rich-arse NBA and NFL players go off, but lose their minds when an 18 year-old woman with maybe a few NIL $ is upset after a championship loss.

not you checking up on all her followers - just as petty Shes young, she just lost the biggest game of her young career, she probably needs a social media break rather than unfollowing but sheâll learn as she matures. Cook should have never had her at the follow-up presser. She was a sore loser and bad example for so many young players who look up to her. All I could see was pouting. No excusing that behavior. For the 500th time, Cook does not control or choose who is at presser. Being pissed about losing doesnât make one a poor loser. Sheâs an 18yr old kid, she will get better at handling those situations, itâs all part of the growing stage as an athlete.

In set 2 when she was targeted on Oneal's long serving run, not sure why a sub was not used to provide her a reset. I doubt she has ever experienced something like that. I did not understand it then, nor now. It goes back to the "Why does Cook think so little of Kubik?" type question. He finally pulled the trigger (on Ally I think), but she could have come in to give the passing a different look earlier. I thought Maisie did a good job of hanging in there when she came in to give Laney a break.

Isnât that what heâs pretty much done to Hayden both years she was on the roster? And Kennedi Orr... This is actually why most coaches don't redshirt people unless they are sure that player is a surefire all-star. If they aren't a star you want the scholarship back so you can recruit someone better and so they don't transfer and have an extra year to play against you. That is way wrong, and hopefully not a prevalent mindset among coaching staffs

I believe there's way too much evidence to the contrary.

Coaches have a pretty good idea of what the floor and ceiling of a player is once they have them on campus and in the gym everyday. Sure, that can change but they are right far more than they are wrong.

I caught the whole post-game presser on YouTube, and honestly have no criticism of Cook or Murray. Cookâs noting of Asiaâs age & experience was on point as a big differences in the match, but not in a way that suggested it was an âunfairâ advantage, or a flaw in the system. Murray was led into her comments on winning the next 3 by Feinswogâs question on how good Nebraska will be in the future. My only criticism would be of putting Becka on the panel, and that is a criticism of the SID and not of Becka. You shouldnât put a player who was clearly still in her emotions over the loss on stage, and you should know which of your players are prone to tossing f-bombs in interviews & not put them out front. It reminded me of Kayla Caffey after the loss to Wisconsin.

Iâd be pissed if they were all laughing and joking. Of course she said they are gonna win the next 3 years. She was led right into that. And thatâs the attitude you absolutely should have. I would want any kid on my team feeling the exact same way right after. What she said was not wrong. Bekka adding her 2 cents from the side cracked me up and I donât blame her. Those girls will be more motivated than ever next year.

He started out fine saying the obligatory congratulations to Texas. But his comment about Ajsia was unnecessary. But more importantly, he ended the presser trying to trash Texas and their transfers (all the while forgetting about his own). Downright petty. For all the Nebraska faithful here, you may want to view the Wisconsin/Texas post-game presser. I thought Kelly Shielfield gave a masterclass handling his defeat w/ class & dignity.

Always felt bad for CJ not coming in for the stadium match. Good luck to both CJ and HK.

Just gonna say it here too because I coincidentally ended up at the same hotel as the team and spent a significant amount of time speaking with the Murray family and seeing the team interact. Harper WAS DEVASTATED, As I am sure they all were. And instead of getting to go home, she got thrown up on a stage and asked questions within minutes of one of the toughest moments of her volleyball career.
After that they returned to a hotel full of people who wanted autographs and pictures despite her own family and teammates families waiting to spend time with their children who they knew were HURTING. I did not see Harper, or a single Husker, turn down any fan requests for pictures or autographs despite it probably being the last thing they wanted to do.
Lastly, after being gone for a week after a grueling season and heart breaking end, they are expected to turn it back on for the fans at the airport? Again, i understand this is what they sign up for with Husker Nation, but it is a lot to be âonâ for that long even without the actual physical aspect of playing volleyball, especially when you are on your way home and most likely just ready to be DONE for a few days.
Oh, and donât forget that during that week they also had to get their school work done if they werenât able to complete it early.
If you had the behind the scenes look I did this weekend, you wouldnât be questioning any of these kids. đ¤ˇđźââď¸

so, who do we need to serve us in practice to be better next year... feels like every year Cook stresses that serving hard and passing well is the goal but we didn't serve tough whole season and really didnt pass well @ NC. it's obviously the natty and that would affect anyone, but still.

O'Neal is graduating, right? Maybe we can hire her over the summer to serve bombs at practice.
