so, who do we need to serve us in practice to be better next year... feels like every year Cook stresses that serving hard and passing well is the goal but we didn't serve tough whole season and really didnt pass well @ NC. it's obviously the natty and that would affect anyone, but still. The freshman will improve. NE had freshman playing against elite level 5th year players. Not surprisingly the elite 5th year players prevailed over the freshman. I think that was what JC was trying to say in the press conference, but some interpreted it differently.

O'Neal is graduating, right? Maybe we can hire her over the summer to serve bombs at practice. I think she will be busy with the national team.

Re: Jurevicius in a recent Athletic article: ouch, problem for Jaylen, is that she doesn't produce anything as a fifth year senior if she's not there... Again, not being snarky, honestly curious: why does Cook have so much faith in Reyes? The thing is… Reyes is not wrong. She will produce more as a fifth-year senior. The problem is that Cook never had a conversation with Caroline first. Surprising at the utter lack of communication from this seasoned Nebraska coaching staff.

Cook should have never had her at the follow-up presser. She was a sore loser and bad example for so many young players who look up to her. All I could see was pouting. Don’t get me wrong, it’s completely understandable to be disappointed and bummed about losing a huge match, but the way she handled herself (even when coming back to NE from Tampa with all the fans greeting the team) was even more disappointing. No excusing that behavior. For the 500th time, Cook does not control or choose who is at presser. Being pissed about losing doesn’t make one a poor loser. She’s an 18yr old kid, she will get better at handling those situations, it’s all part of the growing stage as an athlete. You are dead wrong about the program not controlling who is at the table for the presser…. The press may request , but doesn’t force anyone to attend and the program has final say.

JC, Jaylen, Kelly....somebody should have made the effort during that game, or after the second set, to communicate their thoughts and decision to Caroline. Boggles my mind that they didn't, and let it wait until the next day. I love my Huskers just as much as anyone, but if we're getting the correct story from the Athletic article, this was managed horribly.

There's no doubt his logic was sound and he probably had the athletes' best interests in his mind. But in that moment--he made a lot of assumptions about what she wanted to do in her volleyball and academic life without consulting her. Meanwhile she has to answer all of her friends' and family on why she didn't play. (And she didn't know why, anyone even the slightest bit insecure would be--did I do something wrong? Was I not practicing hard enough? etc)
(Again we don't know for sure this was the reason she's transferring, but I imagine it certainly didn't help)

Could a coach refuse the request, of course. I’ve literally never heard of an instance where that has happened. Why would he have refused that request, this is a program that has press conferences left and right.

I believe they have ten minutes before required to meet press, with a lot going on, I’m sure he’s not walking around and gauging the temperature of each player, and he doesn’t know the questions or how they’ll react. Sports info person says, “Bekka, Harper and Lexi” they go, just like they do every match.

I think it’s so funny the announcers presume she is the heir-apparent to start on the Olympic team. Like, baby, have you ever seen Washington or Obogu play? I don’t even think she will be on the roster over Rettke who is having a pretty solid season over seas. She’s stellar, but it made me chuckle that they were insinuating she an automatic starter for the Olympic team

He was mad he lost, which I totally understand, but as a coach, he needs to work on his public speaking/media training. even nebraska fans thought he was being an ass.

No I definitely think she can make it though I dont mean to be rude, but hasn't washington been flopping lately?
