LOL Batenhorst had 3.7 kills per set. She hit .341 over the weekend, sure, but there were better players last week. Hudson and Hanson both had over 1.0 kills per set more and hit for a higher efficiency. And if you're going to give it to a player with less than 4 kps, at least recognize Beason for what she did. Whatever. It's really starting to reek of "we just want everyone to get a trophy" I mean, Hudson and Hanson played the bottom feeders of the conference. And when has that ever stopped them from honoring players before?? From any conference? If they're doing it based solely on who has great stats against the top competition, this would be a different story. But they're not and you know it.

I love Ally, but this wasn't her week.

Ally played the best I've ever seen her against UCLA. 16 kills hitting over .500. I literally was thinking damn she could be national player of the week if she keeps this up against Washington.
10 kills hit .182
Leah Ford had my vote for volleytalk b1g FOW (and got it)!
Honestly I'm surprised Reilly didn't win just for setting Nebraska to a sweep at Wisconsin. At least they noticed Mia had better stats.

And that’s fine, stats aren’t everything, but then what IS the basis? Because all the other non-name-only values like wins over best opponents for the week and overall team success don’t seem to be it either. Yes, Batenhorst is the top offensive outlet for a top 25 team. Yes, she should be in contention for B1G POY (though maybe not high up there). But based on THIS WEEK? Meh.

Whoever is in the know, would be great to know what criteria they use. ACC polls got it way more accurately.

Soon, the ACC will be better than you guys in everything. This is fun.

Stolen from the Nebraska thread; cute idea, although Tamas is so wishy-washy. Em shouldn't have let him off the hook.

It is not lost on me that Iowa doesn't get much love, but they had a 5'11" RS Freshman just put down 10 Kills, 14 digs, one ace, and one block (hitting .240) against PSU last weekend. I think she was a serving specialist prior. That seems a bit of a David and Goliath.
