My wild take
1. Nebraska (wins the NC with an undefeated season, I truly think the NC loss ((ouch)) last year propels them to not lose to anyone) 2. Wisconsin 3. Oregon (Queen Mimi is an unstoppable force this year) 4. Penn State (CJ gets her flowers) 5. Ohio State (rides Londot and Ryder for a Cinderella season) 6. Purdue 7. UCLA 8. Minnesota 9. USC 10. Illinois 11. Washington 12. Indiana 13. Michigan State 14. Iowa (making strides) 15. Maryland 16. Michigan 17. Rutgers 18. Northwestern
Spotlight Re: my team, Indiana: I just rewatched both matches with Purdue from last year. IU beat Purdue for the first time in like 12 years (3-1 in Bloomington and then lost 1-3 to them in Terre Snooze). Honestly, there wasn't a huge difference between the two teams. Purdue could not pass or serve to save their lives in Bloomington, Haworth served them off the court in the win. So when I see polls putting Purdue at possible #5 in the conference, and IU at #11, I think, what's the big diff? HOWEVER, IU's middles played a huge part last year with Haworth distributing the ball to them. IU needs to replace both middles, which is why I'm just not sure they can finish in the top half of this new, crazy talented conference, but I'm willing to be proven incorrect. Go Hoosiers.

If Nebraska can make it through the regular season with only 1 or 2 losses, I would consider that a great regular season.

Indiana’s RPI in 2023 was 72. That is about 25 teams away from making the dance. Their strength of schedule was 110. I see similar results this fall. The conference opponents just got tougher. The two best front-line players on last year’s roster are gone. I love the enthusiasm, but IU may be in the wrong conference. If they were in the ACC, they might get a bid. Last bid for IU was 2010 - 14 years ago.

There was plenty of good teams with good players last year, I don’t see that being remarkably different this year. There are good teams every year that’s just how it works. Plus Nebraska returned every starter that they wanted to bring back from a NC team AND added a Big ten POY, one of the top middles available, and two of the best freshman in the entire nation. I think it’s entirely reasonable to suggest a team that made such improvements could go undefeated.

Me thinks the B1G is going to be scary!!! okay lol it’s eek for Pitt but that does not necessarily mean Michigan is gonna be great or that the acc is overrated. It’s an exhibition match And Pitt played their backup setter for most of the match. Still, this was much a much more competitive showing from Blue than I anticipated. And Olivia Babcock is queen of all that is good and holy. Prepping a bigger writeup for the Michigan thread shortly.

But pedestrian takes from Ehman aren't at all surprising to me.
