As of this morning, one-third — 10 of the 30 — B1G conference matches have gone 5 sets. That seems amazing to me, and a signal that maybe this is a competitive conference this year. And at that point 3 of the 10 were matches involving Minnesota lol

I love me some Mruzik, but it sucks that Ohio State lost both matches last week because what Londot did should've been recognized IMO.

Also last week was a pretty big week for middle blockers.
Allick, Kulig, Summers, and Dodson all averaged 2 blocks per set! Hard to put a ball down in this conference 😳

I know she and Rader have a lot of love for the program and for JFO/the coaching staff, but this feels like such a waste of a 5th year 😭

Based on today (10/7) RPI rankings, I think these 11 B1G teams have a very good chance of making the tournament this year. I am pleasantly surprised with USC at #12 and Illinois at #26. Indiana and Michigan are hanging in there too. UCLA is currently at #66 which is way lower than I expected.
1 Nebraska Big Ten 14-1 2-1 1-0 11-0 0-0 4 Penn St. Big Ten 14-1 4-1 1-0 9-0 0-0 8 Wisconsin Big Ten 9-4 3-2 1-2 5-0 0-0 12 Southern California Big Ten 11-3 2-2 1-0 8-1 0-0 13 Oregon Big Ten 11-2 4-1 3-0 4-1 0-0 16 Purdue Big Ten 12-3 4-1 4-1 4-1 0-0 20 Washington Big Ten 13-1 5-1 4-0 4-0 0-0 23 Minnesota Big Ten 9-5 2-2 3-2 4-1 0-0 26 Illinois Big Ten 9-5 4-2 3-2 2-1 0-0 36 Indiana Big Ten 9-5 1-4 1-1 7-0 0-0 37 Michigan Big Ten 13-2 3-2 1-0 9-0 0-0

They HAVE to win the matches against the bottom tier teams, and sneak a few from the mid and likely one against the top Win all against MSU, Rutgers, Iowa, NW and Maryland Sneak wins against UCLA, Michigan and Illinois and Get that extra top win from the top half and I think theyll be in But lost any matches they should not lose/dont win some upsets, I think they may be out Same thing for Illinois but they seem a little more safe Michigan I think is stronger than both, so I expect them to win more

You've described a perfect case scenario for IU which unfortunately won't pan out. It makes me sad for them, but it is what it is. Blocking is almost nonexistent and consistency in good play disappears for long stretches. Going through the B1G gauntlet will be rough.

On a basic level I think it's silly to debate a counterfactual but I'll join the exercise for grins. I think one of Londot's greatest attributes is her OOS attacking, especially at opposite. She "takes out the trash" hitting OOS from the right pin in a way I have a hard time thinking of someone else comparable. Aside from her OOS prowess, she's also super shotty, with some savvy tipping and placement. She's also a legitimate back row threat hitting D balls. Smrek's block is hard to top but to me that's maybe the only edge she has over Londot, IMO.
