Happy to see Elise McGhee coming alive in the last few matches. Over the span of the last five she is averaging 5 kills/set and hitting .305. She is also averaging .58 aces/set in that stretch, and has seemed more dialed in behind the service line (as long as her toss is okay).
Also impressed with the blocking of the middles in the past weeks. Victoria Davis has been starting in place of Bibinbe and has made an impact defensively, averaging 1.11 blocks/set in the last 5 matches. She has the potential for a lot of offensive firepower, and absolutely dented the floor on a few swings, but still needs to get a bit more consistent. Andrew has also been better blocking, at 1.27 blocks/set in the last 5, and has hit .404 in that stretch. I have really enjoyed watching her growth at Baylor and she has solidified her place in the lineup.

Thought she might have gotten it last week, but Elite McGhee is this week’s Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week.

Baylor swept UCF (25-22, 25-16, 25-19). The Bears hit .384 on the match led by Elise McGhee with 17 kills (.552). McGhee also got her 1,000th career kill tonight and Briseño got her 81st ace to move into 5th place in the Baylor record book (rally era).
That’s 7 in a row for Baylor, who has a trip to the state of Kansas next week to take on KSU and then KU. Big week ahead as two wins this week would be really big in BU’s push to host.
