Interesting NKYVC lost to a team in the silver finals that was playing USA two weeks ago. NKYVC 18-1 has not performed to expectation so far this year. I am sure that the coaches will make the necessary adjustments to the lineup and rotations that are needed. This team lost an amazing DS who decided not to play volleyball after her high school season. They also added an amazing athlete who is committed to Pittsburgh. The rest of the roster is the same. This is the same team more or less that finished third at NIT three years ago, second at NIT two years ago and won NIT last year. We shall see what the rest of the season brings as they have the NIT and one more qualifier left. I rarely, if ever, comment on this forum but when "Bud" went off I had to comment.

lol I'm glad I could get you to come out to post, thanks for the explanation, losing a top DS can definitely impact a team. And btw, I didnt "go off" I simply was pointing out that a team that was being proclaimed as the same level as TAV Black, KC Power etc was not performing, usually there is a reason for that, IE its not the same team as last year, injury, senioritis, playing other sports etc. There are some teams that have decided to attend prom and are not trying to get a bid which can take the edge off as well. Another factor could be there is a lot of talent out there and even some of these teams that havent got all the pub over the years actually have some players too.

Don't know if any team was snubbed, but saw this nugget on the Media outlets they used to help identify Power Pools: Is NIT taking the mickey of VT, or did they honestly get feedback from some folks? This is too funny. Fess up, who was involved??? Also, they kept 4 at-large bids for each Power Pool, so any snub will have recourse.

Not really too sure how they make their selections for the power pool. Paramount is playing for the first time and they did not get selected for the Power pool. If you look at the USAV Advanced System rankings they are ranked number one in the country at the 15 level. I'm not saying they are number one but you would think that would get some consideration. The number two team OT Randy is in. The number five team Houston Skyline is in.
Also, Paramount 15 may have one of the top players in the country in Taylor Harrington. And if you want a team that now battles Metro for supremacy in the Chesapeake area Paramount is it. Metro is still number one but the Paramount 15 team beat the Metro 15 team in a recent tournament.

Looks like the only qualifying criteria Paramount has is last year’s GJNC finish (T13th in National) and any word of mouth the seeding committee would have been given by other club directors. I see they are 16-0, but none of those wins have come in any of this season’s tournaments to which they give consideration. If you watch the beginning of the Power Pool show, they give the rundown on how decisions are made. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Looks like they are pretty good this year so they should find their way to the elite bracket.

Gonna need a lot more longitudinal data to get into a power pool. Those are designed for the big dogs to showcas me between each other.

The criteria is laid out in their video, but generally is known that -Club consistently attends Triple Crown events -Club ranking over 5 years -Team finish in prior USAV & AAU Nationals -Team finish in this season top events: NL, Tour of Texas, SCVA, 3Step MLK, CZ -Top Club Directors word of mouth This is a showcase event for best teams in country. NIT wants the best competition and to ensure Day 1 quality the best teams in 🇺🇸 play each other without worrying about seeding implications. College coaches love it. Paramount has not attended NIT, and this 14 team finished 49th at GJNCs last year and looks like is playing Open for the first time this year, so the expectation should be a 2 seed (maybe a 1 seed) in a lower Pool. if Harrington is an elite player (and I see she attended Dream Team camp), coaches will be at her court, even if it’s in the bowels of convention center. Best of luck.

I did some inquiries and I've been told that the reason they were not in the power pool is that this is their first year playing in the event. So the club was not expecting to be in the power pool. Too bad for NIT. Both the 16 and 15 teams are loaded with talent on a par with Metro. They will be fun to watch. A 2026 middle Parker Sutherland at 6'3" can dominate a game. I guess the proof will come with how well they play in the non-power pool.
Paramount has only been a club for seven years. They were the first Chesapeake club to have a team finish as high as 5th in the Junior Nationals in the Open Division when their 18 team did it two years ago. Last year Metro 17 tied that accomplishment when they finished fifth in the Open Division at Junior Nationals.

I believe this is the first year HPSTL is attending TC, and they are in Power Pools at 14s, 15s, and 17s. They have the results to warrant it. Sounds like Paramount is definitely on the rise, but they haven’t been on the right podiums yet. Like I said earlier, if they’re good, they’ll be right where they want to be on Day 2 and Day 3.
