I did some inquiries and I've been told that the reason they were not in the power pool is that this is their first year playing in the event. So the club was not expecting to be in the power pool. Too bad for NIT. Both the 16 and 15 teams are loaded with talent on a par with Metro. They will be fun to watch. A 2026 middle Parker Sutherland at 6'3" can dominate a game. I guess the proof will come with how well they play in the non-power pool. Paramount has only been a club for seven years. They were the first Chesapeake club to have a team finish as high as 5th in the Junior Nationals in the Open Division when their 18 team did it two years ago. Last year Metro 17 tied that accomplishment when they finished fifth in the Open Division at Junior Nationals. I believe this is the first year HPSTL is attending TC, and they are in Power Pools at 14s, 15s, and 17s. They have the results to warrant it. Sounds like Paramount is definitely on the rise, but they haven’t been on the right podiums yet. Like I said earlier, if they’re good, they’ll be right where they want to be on Day 2 and Day 3. It is not the first year for HPSTL We played them last year at Triple Crown.

I will say that before even accepting a team to play in the NIT there is a thoroughness in the process. I wish this was 100 percent the case. The last two years in 15s and 16s I could name several teams we saw that had no business being at TC. The selection process needs to be cleaned up a bit more. Some of these clubs have no business having their second team for the age group at this event.

No doubt many of these clubs 2s teams are stronger than smaller clubs 1s but isn’t always the case. For example 17s..WAVE 1s always in Power Pool but aren’t strong and once in a PP you’re sitting pretty. They won maybe 2 matches but got their 2s team in the tourney but don’t think they won a match last year (16s). Admittedly, a strong club overall. I’d prefer they call some of these clubs bluff. Another item I saw this year is teams playing TC events but have no business in NIT. Muscle Volleyball..where would they be in the DFW pecking order? Obviously I’m too familiar with this age group.. whining over

Are they just trying to fill slots?

Are they just trying to fill slots? No, plenty of teams want in. I believe Muscle went and played some TC events..which is part of the selection criteria..that being said, that would be this team's only qualifying criteria. Based on minimal research, they didn't win any of them either. You might know better than me, being from NT region, but i don't know of any success nationally.
