I want to talk about potential venues but not get on each others nerves
AAU will not move from Orlando...it is the organization's base.
SLC is way to expensive for teams to get to
and it isnt a surprise to many people that no qualifers or big tourneys are in California on the girls side but a couple of them on the boys
Chicago is a pretty good location with cheaper flights, strong hub flying in with quite a few options. Dallas also works in that regard as well.
If you look at the USAV qualifier system the spots are honestly spaced out pretty good if you had one in Denver maybe (Crossroads that is your fault) with quite a few in the midwest.

I didn’t question your experience, just your cheery disposition. Personally, I prefer Indy, Louisville, or Columbus. But none of those cities solve the flights issue like Orlando. You’re just expecting anyone to concede to your experience without providing any real data from your experience. You can’t argue Orlando has more housing options, more direct flight options, less expensive flight options, and less snow or freezing rain than Kansas City. None of those are opinions. I’ve not called Orlando a Mecca. If you’d like to explain how Kansas City is a better option than Orlando for a volleyball tournament in February with more than just a “trust me, bro”, I’m all ears. You're definitely the kind of guy that tells women they should smile more. I apologize if I wasn't jumping up and down and praising you for being the smartest person ever. I'll keep that in mind next time and work on having a sunnier disposition when interacting with you... But really, what data are you providing? I was simply sharing my opinion, the same way you did, that I do not want to have to attend another tournament in Florida. I've been to the Sunshine Qualifier, I've been to AAUs. Both are perfectly fine. I dislike the fact that majority of the hotels are not within actual walking distance of the convention center. And while there are direct flights, we paid well north of $700 per ticket this year and still couldn't find many direct flights home that left late enough to accommodate the final day schedule, so that meant an extra day for most of our families. It's not Spring Break or an extended holiday for our kids (beyond Monday), so it's extra travel days and more missed class time, not to mention a 3-time zone change. I don't necessarily think Kansas City is ideal. And in the original plans for the tournament, it was supposed to rotate cities every 3-5 years. We loved it when it was in Salt Lake City, super easy trip from the West Coast. The benefit for Kansas City is that it is reasonably drivable for a decent number of teams attending (more so than Florida). And the new airport means increased flight options. They also have a decent metro rail system to get teams staying at hotels further out into the venue. There are not very many ideal cities to hold an event of that size (and growing), especially on a holiday weekend. Costs will always be higher, no matter where you go. But a central location makes sense for a lot of reasons. Is that enough of a pro-con list for you? Or do I need to send you my resume and pre-clear myself as allowed to have an opinion as controversial as "I don't want to go to Florida for another tournament"? Look at you providing some substance to the discussion! KC has some walkable hotels and a tram. Was that so hard? Proud of you, turbo!

You must be a lot of fun at parties.
