Off topic from GJNC but still club related…. Dear people of the Cincinnati, Ohio area: We already have too many clubs! Stop making new ones! But all those kids that are on a 4’s team really should be on a 1’s team. So, now is their chance.

it’s definitely true that not every team with a top 20 recruit makes it to the top (this is a team sport for a reason) but I do think it is rarer for a team without a top 20 recruit to make it to the top. Put another way, almost all top finishers do have a highly coveted recruit, so it’s impressive when a team without one does well. that’s all! Who finished top 15-20 without a highly coveted recruit? I see CUVC 17’s (looks like they nearly beat AZ storm), MAVS, ID Crush. Did I miss anyone? I would argue Idaho crush has some highly recruited girls, they are just a year young

The facilities were fine. But only one vendor inside who charged exorbitant prices did not go over well with the attendees. There was a food court, but their prices were not cheap either, but at least it offered different choices. You had to be prepared to spend over $30 for a wrap and a drink. Temperatures averaged about 115 degrees outside. There doesn't appear to be a real strip anymore where you can walk along the sidewalks to the various casinos. Las Vegas appears to be a lot more spread out now. Don't know if the pandemic influenced this but lots of closed buildings and empty parking lots that had chain link fences preventing anyone from using them. The area where the volleyball was played seemed to be under destruction or buildings left abandoned. But if all you cared about was the volleyball it seemed to go well. Though the grandstands were rather small so when the finals happened there was not a lot of seating capacity. My biggest issue was how expensive everything was. Eating Subway for lunch at our hotel was $20 per person. Dinner at the food court in MGM was at least $30 per person. Getting a refrigerator in our room was an extra $40 per day so buying lunch meat for the week wasn’t feasible. The temps were hot, sure. But more than that it was just too expensive considering what families already have to pay for a season.

Triple Crown just announced a new Summer NIT in Mesa, AZ, June 7th - June 10th. If this becomes as popular and as well attended as the TCNIT in February, I’m on board with calling it the real National Championship and we all end our seasons on June 10th! But if not, I’m not sure if it will catch on with clubs in the Eastern half of the country.

Very interesting: USAV has been for a bit discussing possibilities to have a shorter season similar to 18’s. Competition for a Championship ending earlier might stimulate more serious discussion in this direction? It would seem apparent from this years usav with one set of ages in Las Vegas and a second set in Dallas. And of course the 18’s in a different city and way earlier dates! 3 step also offers an end of year tourney!

Could someone tell me why I would want to go to Mesa, Arizona in June? Do they have enough hotels to accommodate a large event? How easy is it to travel there? Do they have the facilities to hold that many teams or will we see a tournament held at a number of different venues?
Interesting choice if you want to make it the "championship event".

I wouldn't want to be in Mesa in June, but not much of a difference from being in Vegas in July. Mesa is just 15 mins from the Phoenix airport, seems like travel would be easy. I'm not sure about the facilities in Mesa itself though.

And I have received a survey from USAV yesterday about the even and I made sure to tell them all that- and more! I doubt anyone will even read it, but I tried.

Triple Crown having two tourneys in June at same time doesnt make a lot of sense unless this is a one year thing

My guess is they are hoping to capture more of the Festival demographic than the TC demographic of teams.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Maybe this event replaces AAU/USAV and we all end our season in early June. However, the Triple Crown people are selling this the exact opposite way as the ultimate pre-national event. Bummer!!!

If this becomes a National Championship then why have qualifiers?
and AAU in Orlando keeps getting bigger and bigger
IMO you shorten the season a bit on the back end and move up AAU maybe a week or so, AND start a little later as well by giving time for recouping after HS season it is doable BUT do clubs as a profit making system really want a shortened season money wise ??
