No big surprise, Munciana tops Far Out for 18O title.

I mean at 7 teams, I'd say it's already dead. At least as far as Open. The Premier division is at 27 and I believe there are the Club and Classic have another 172 teams. So still a healthy tournament for 18s. If Samurai stopped playing in Open, the size of the field would probably quadruple. As it is, other teams know they are in a different class than Muncie so they stay away from the open division.

My DD played against Mike's team in 2022 AAU 18O, Munci did end up winning the Championship, but there were other Elite teams present, and a couple that clearly didn't understand what Open meant.

Not sure where to start on this one so if munciana didn’t play in AAU 18 open the field would quadruple!! That’s interesting cause the field was quadrupled at USAV’s where all the 18’s talent goes these days and I don’t think munciana finished in top 10. AAU in the last 4 yrs has had a total of 31 teams compete in 18 open nationals. 18’s at AAU’s is dead and 18’s overall will continue to be weak as more kids go to school early. The days where 40 teams show up for 18’s are over. As for the munciana comment wasn’t there like 3 national championships for 18’s- under armor, usav and AAU? Can we get a recap on who won those and how many teams in each?

So it's:
Mintonette v Academy
Jupiter Elite v OT Roberto
A5 Gabe v Rev Fury
Team Pineapple v MN Select
Dallas Skyline v Boiler Jrs
Kairos v Northern Lights
GP Rox v SPVB
SynergyForce v Legacy
I'd have to guess that Mintonette and Legacy are the clear favorites. That said, there have been a ton of upsets in the 16's...

And for those that are playing both hopefully the parents didn't have to take out a second mortgage on their house to pay for the entire season. I really do wonder why Clubs feel the need to play in both AAU and USAV Nationals? From a recruiting standpoint just not sure it helps at all to be at both events. I know there are some that just want to play as many tournaments as possible against great competition, but what is the ROI on playing both national events?

I may totally be wrong but I believe at least six of the teams have qualified for USAV Open. Not looking at those not in the championship bracket.
As for teams playing in both, I think that some might look at AAU as a warm-up tournament for USAV.
Many of these teams haven't had a competitive tournament since late April...

Mintonette beats Dallas Skyline in the finals of 16 Open.
Legacy lost to GP 16 Rox in the quarters. Mintonette had a really close call with Minnesota Select in the semis. MN had a couple of match points in the third before losing 16-18.

The Mintonette 16-1 Team is Elite. They have great athletes at every position on the court.
