that was a 5th set beatdown by NOrthridge on USC. even with 4 more service errors in the set. go for broke serving paid off.
good win for this Northridge program, one of best wins so far in the conference this year.

I don't think play is down in the BW, it just looks different for most teams (even Long Beach because you've got Skyler Varga at OP and Bouchkov at MB). UCSB/Rick has his guys battling even though they're dropping matches, but come April, I think teams will be dialed in. Some coaches like to experiment more than others and we're seeing that in a few lineups, but also there are still injuries and roster management philosophies that are in play. I asked this question on this week's episode of College Volleyball Weekly, give it a listen and see the coaches' responses.

UC Irvine got BYU x2 then UCLA x2. We will see in the next 2 weeks how good they really are I’m not as (vball) knowledgable as some you other fans, but I think UCI/BYU matches could end up even, with 1 match apiece… but then again I expected the BYU/Princeton series to have had more than just 6 straight sets by the Cougs… I was actually surprised at that outcome. But then again the changes with the lineup that Olmstead had made last week seems to have been an improvement. I love the emergence of Jon Stanley. I’m such a fan of his. He seems like an awesome person; So rare of a personality these days. I love the way he celebrates with his team and Olmstead and the way he is respectful to his opponents during the post-match handshake thingy, and it's so cool to know that Joh Stanley's gold chains are brought to you by Saturday Night Fever (me = Steve Vail stan ). And with regard to the OPP position, I may be in the minority, but I would like to see Trent Moser over Kupono Browne at OPP with Stanley/Raminis(sp?) and Benson at outside. I think Moser seems to have more range than Browne and better court vision. UCI seems to be improving as well… I’ve been a fan of Brett Sheward and am so stoked that he’s the starting setter for UCI. Happy for him… I hope I’m wrong and UCI will be able win both matches… but I’m not so sure…with BYU’s change of setters and Barney Jackson Fife looking so good at libero, BYU’s chemistry seems a whole lot better. In any case, I’ve been enjoying both teams’ progress this season and am really looking forward to these matches

But I think he's their best OH and the numbers should back that up. He's also a very decent passer, don't forget at times last year they had him passing in serve receive as the right side. I'd keep him OH as much as possible.

I'd keep him OH as much as possible. I agree with you that Moser is the best OH on the team, but I also like him at Opp. Although it was against 1 team, Moser seemed to have brought more to that position than Browne. But I say that without seeing either of their stats at that position. I’m curious to see last week’s lineup go up against UCI. Would Moser be a better match up against either Henno or Flexen up at the net, more so than Browne? I wouldn’t mind seeing that match up. I think Stanley/Raminis (sp?) and Benson would be a good enough match up against Sheward and Grigoriev. However, if UCI’s serving game — especially Henno’s — is on, then yeah, have Moser switch back to his original position. We’ll see how it all goes today and tomorrow. Been looking forward to these 2 matches all week.
