Don't support staff/coaches get the medal too? I thought they did (in which case the player would) I would say it's going to be a libero especially since most rosters get only 1 but I guess if it's a country that runs a 6-2 they could take a setter. Do any countries even run a 6-2? I cant recall seeing a 6-2 in my limited watching of national team play Not Olympic quality ones usually. You only get 6 subs so they only play one rotation around or one setter also hits. (Karch's 6-2 when he first took over the team was one of the first times I've seen it at that high a level)

Do all 13 win a medal? I would hope so. Don't support staff/coaches get the medal too? Coaches and staff do not get Olympic medals. Only the athletes. Some Federations, including USAV, commission recognition tokens.

I know he ran the occasional double sub, but I dont really count that as a true 6-2. unless i just dont remember

It was not a true 6-2 that plays out the whole time, but a double sub that is only in for a max of 3 rotations.

My money is on Hentz or another middle. 4 outsides is plenty. We know Larson and Krob serve the same roll and Karch seemingly flavors blonds so count KP and Frantic in. Middles seem to be the most uncertain so I’d load up there. @reach I agree.. I think it will be Hentz as Karch/USAV see her as the leadership bridge to 2028 Quad.....

what does it mean about the additional player not being able to be accommodated in the Olympic Village? is the extra player not allowed to room with teammates or something?

Can only can have 6 subs per set.

When Karch brings Poulter as that 13th player instead of a middle or OH, then you'll see plenty of mess! The Hentz erasure! Lol

Can only can have 6 subs per set. It’s possible if you do it the old school way and your setters are your opps; but nobody currently is doing this. The closest you can get with subs is the “double sub at 15+ points” that Karch loves.

Sounds like a 5-2. A 5-2 is when you switch your front and back row setters. So Setter one plays front row Setter 2 plays back row Florida ran this in 2017? A setter as your opposites is a "true" 6-2. Both set and hit, so really no subs.

Sounds like a 5-2. Huh? It’s the true original 6–2 actually lol. (And it’s the same as a double sub 6-2, you’re just using the personnel you have on the court instead of subbing different people in.)
