wouldn't be surprised to see Merrick McHenry get a nod for olympic training camp or something. that guy would be nasty on Team USA.

So basically, we need a steady 2nd OPP and 4th OH (or 4th MB) and then that 13th reserve player?
Or we could bring Tuaniga and use Ma'a as a hybrid player if necessary.

Knowing it is Speraw, I think he will go with Garrett Muagututia as the 4th OH. I will vote for Garcia as the 2nd Opp and the 13th player will be a middle and it will be Averill.

Nah disagree...at least these guys were in the USA gym all last summer. The "want" factor in addition is a factor. That's all well and great. But no matter how much Quinn Isaacson or Tim McIntosh "want" to be on the Olympic roster, a lot has gone wrong if they actually are on that roster. And that's not a knock on them. But you aren't taking 2 liberos. And Shoji is your libero. Likewise with the OHs. It's just a numbers game. I agree with the locks. But the list of "reserves to choose from" is really like 5, in reality. Not 21.

*** Realistic Reserves***
Gabi Garcia Opposite 6-8
Garrett Muagututia Outside Hitter, 6-5
Taylor Averill Middle Blocker, 6-7
Kyle Dagostino Libero, 5-9
Kyle Ensing Opposite, 6-7
Merrick McHenry Middle Blocker, 6-7
I would love to include Tuaniga, but we will not take 3 setters. Especially if one can play multiple positions.

Besides Pasteur is they any current collegiate athlete that could have a meteoric year and burst on to the scene and a 12th or 13th guy....it would have to be a pin imo?

He may have been sent home early but I thought he was up with them.

Yeah I feel like if Speraw had any serious interest in having one of the college guys on the Olympic roster, he would've (at least tried to) talked them into skipping their year in college and playing professionally overseas. He did that with Jaeshke.
