Jaeschke and co. swept Russell and co. 25-23, 25-21, 25-13. Thomas had 16K (hitting .517: 16-1-29), 2A and 2B, Aaron had 14K (hitting .433: 14-1-30), 1A and 1B. Panasonic will take on Suntory in the finals. Yep, the two best teams all year long will meet for the title. Panasonic should be the favorite. Dmitry Muserskiy, the 7'2 opposite led Suntory with .689% hitting 31 k 3 blocks and 1 ace. And Suntory just swept Panasonic, with the second set going 37-35!

I'll take that every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Just saw a video on YouTube with title that Matthew Anderson is retiring. Is that true? NO! Matt is retiring from USA National Team competition AFTER the Paris Olympics. Something that most everyone assumed. The 11 month training and competition at the highest level is a big ask and Matt has been doing it for 15 years. Don't be surprised if you see NUMEROUS players....not just USA athletes....take next summer off from their respective National teams. I fully expect Matt to continue to play overseas.

Will this be the oldest USA Olympic roster ever?
Assuming the following roster: Aaron Russell- Outside Hitter, 6-9-Age 31 in Paris TJ DeFalco-Outside Hitter, 6-5-Age 27 in Paris Thomas Jaeschke-Outside Hitter, 6-6-Age 30 in Paris Matt Anderson-Opposite/Outside Hitter, 6-10-Age 37 in Paris Micah Christenson-Setter, 6-5--Age 31 in Paris Micah Ma’a-Setter, 6-37-Age 27 in Paris Max Holt-Middle Blocker, 6-10--Age 37 in Paris Jeff Jendryk-Middle Blocker, 6-10-Age 28 in Paris David Smith-Middle Blocker, 6-7--Age 39 in Paris Erik Shoji-Libero, 6-0 (184 cm)-Age 34 in Paris Garrett Muagututia-Outside Hitter, 6-5-Age 36 in Paris Taylor Averill-Middle Blocker, 6-7-Age 32 in Paris Gabbie Garcia-Opposite 6-8-Age 25 in Paris
The average age is 31.85....going back to 2008, these are the approximate average ages (I calculated based on birth year and competition year, not birth day/competition start) 2008 30.1 2012 30.7 2016 28.0 2020 29.1

Matt Anderson posted on his story saying LA is not off the table for him I am sure a lot of the current guys would try and hang around as long as possible with a chance to play in the Olympics in their home country.

Out of System posted a video with Ma’a detailing the Olympic selection process and the emotions that came with it. Pretty good watch… he mentioned they were all waiting in an area and did one on ones for the decision. And exited another way… and the celebration thing was right after which is pretty wild.

Ma'a said by the time he called his dad, they already found out because of the usav post. Loved Ma'a talking about having love and respect for Tuaniga as a player, as a person and having that conversation with him after the roster decision.

Micah also spilling who the second OPP options are (not surprising, DeFalco and Russell - so seemingly Jaeschke will be subbing there if need be, then moving to the OH the following set, if Anderson isn't put back in), Muagututia serving sub/DS role, Micah also in a serving sub role (primarily). ETA: Also, if anyone hasn't got VBTV yet, use their OOS20 discount code, that's the only one giving 20% off.
