Fourth OH should be Garret, Speraw is a conservative guy and he needs Garret to do defense/passing when one of TJ/Aaron/Thomas is a little bit shaky. Although offensively should not expect him to hit over those high blocks at all, Garret is experienced and calm and is a good serving substitute.
Second OPPO is useless, if anyone sees the stats of Gabi Garcia and Kyle Russell of Italian League. And Ensing is Ensing, has not changed much since Tokyo. Poor Matt. I wish Speraw could give college students more chance to experience Olympics, after all second oppo is useless, why not bring a college student to clap hands? The 13th player can only be court when one of the main players is hurt and he can never be on court again( I'm not exactly sure of the rules). Not sure how Speraw would use this rule.

Yeah I feel like if Speraw had any serious interest in having one of the college guys on the Olympic roster, he would've (at least tried to) talked them into skipping their year in college and playing professionally overseas. He did that with Jaeshke. He did. And that player said no. Who?

Garrett has played a valuable roll the last 4+ years and contributed to that record in the OP. Good chance there would be a few more losses in the record without him. The constant disrespect is tiresome.

Barring something major happening between now and Paris, I would even put Garrett as a lock. Solid role player. Can come in and steady out serve receive, be a serving sub and provide some defense, and brings a veteran/professional leader along.

www.vleague.jp/men/match_list/v1?calender=2024-2-18&calender_index_pc=3&calender_index_sp=4#search_resultI see that Panasonic continues to dominate the Japanese League however Jaeschke only played in 4 of the games in the 1st match match against Nagoya Wolfdogs( Kurek's ) team winning 3-2. However Thomas did not play the 2nd match last night and Panasonic lost 2-3 . I hope it's nothing major. Russell's Hiroshima team lost both matches 2-3 and 0-3. Aaron did not attend due to personal matters. 👍Sending good thoughts for these 2.

USA definitely needs TJ/Aaron/Thomas/Matt to be fully healthy, cannot afford any more injury.

The four OH are absolute locks unless there is an injury. I would say Ma'a is the second setter, and we have to take a second Opp. Though if Christenson or Anderson get hurt, I can't imagine there is a way we are medal contenders. We have no real prospect as at a second opposite at this point, but we have to take someone. Thinking we can just throw Jaeschke or Russell out on the right and think it will work is pretty naieve unless they have been practicing on the right for the last year or two. Maybe they have considering we haven't had a true opposite since Clay Stanley.
