In my opinion, the expectations for this match has drastically changed. I think the advantage is solely with LBSU now, whereas, if Hawaii has Spyros I would say it's about even. What a match up for the Warriors after such a big loss. I am still excited to see how the Warriors come out and battle in a tough environment! I do look forward to watching my favorite Beach players, Mason Briggs and Simon Torwie! Little changes sometimes throw off a team. For instance, UCI going with a two setter lineup against Hawaii. Will Long Beach have enough scouting information on whoever takes Chakas place? Will not having Spyros mean a more balanced attack? Meaning Tread actually sticks with using his middles more therefore opening up stuff for the pins? These are powerhouse programs with next man up mentalities, I don't think much will change and won't be surprised if Hawaii splits. I disagree that losing Spyros is a little change. Its no where near UCI's issue with Flexen and D'arcy. If we're talking about LBSU and their scouting, I think they would gain a tactical advantage having the knowledge that Spyros is out days before the first serve. We are talking about a multiple time national champion and all-American outside hitter who has been relied upon heavily throughout his career. Hawaii can win but it will be a lot harder without Chakas.

not drastic at all, yes Chakas is great, but it's not like Hawaii is chopped liver without him. especially the #1 thing is Hawaii's serving is extremely effective. and that will pose issues for Beach likely at times. the environament I'm not sure is really too tough, Hawaii will have 20% or so of that building with their fans doing their usual boring clap-trap routine lol, it's not like a traveling party of 50 that Beach only has when they play in Hawaii. Although Beach has teh the most raucous student section of anyplace in college volleyball, which will probablly be packed for this. Hawaii isn't chopped liver but I think it's a drastic change especially when you consider Hawaii's freshman setter. He's been great but he's relied heavily on Spyros to produce for the team. The connection with the middles and Galloway is still developing and Todd has adjusted well to some spotty set locations. That clap routine is incredible in person and especially at the Stan Sheriff Center and is such a welcome addition to Hawaii volleyball tradition. So, you can get the Clap at the Stan Sheriff now? Yikes. Lol

And that clap routine during the match is to help with timing for our servers. And since Milan implement that, our serving game ramped up significantly over the years.

I agree though I do think that Hawaii's overall serving philosophy is the biggest difference maker. But, I was discussing this with my husband because he said that it would throw him off. I told him that: 1) The rhythm of the clap would help me especially since I was a top spin server where the toss and footwork is important 2) I would feel very real if 8,000 to 10,000 people were clapping for me to ace a team off the floor!
