It would appear that Wisconsin and Texas are winning the early 2026 recruiting wars - no big surprise there. I am guessing that Nebraska just doesn't have the 'needs' - or they would be farther along. Wasn't Nebraska already pretty young last year and had a couple good years of top recruits? They probably don't have all that much room like Wisconsin will after a senior heavy squad in 2024 and to a lesser extent, 2025.

Nebraska is likely taking three in this class so it was never going to be the first class mentioned. When two top 10 pins and a top 5 middle is a down year, I guess things are going pretty well. Takes nothing away from Wisconsin getting top players who still know they’ll have to compete for playing time.

How many pins does Wisconsin sin need. I heard one of the recent commits is not happy that she had no idea another pin was goi g to commit? Well, the only pin who has announced a commitment is Flanagan. Isn’t Kymora a pin? And now with Thompson it’ll be 3 pins for ‘26?

I don’t have insights on Robinson. Really comes down to if they think Watson has significantly higher upside. The staff spent a lot of time this spring on Watson. With Davita committed, I could see them letting the process run its course and seeing if Ayanna wants to be a husker. If they don’t see a huge difference, they typically take the commitment and move forward.

Some people have speculated that she could eventually play RS due to other MBs in the pipeline, as well as the fact that she's a little smaller than some of the more recent MB's to come through Madison.

About 80 commits in the first week, including the majority of top ranked OH, MB, and setters. For those top athletes who want to take time and visit multiple schools, it seems the reality of things make that difficult — unless several teams have said there is a place for you no matter what.

Great thread and insight by coach Booth on the topic that has consumed VT for a week. Having gone through this last year, and hearing from so many families this past week, KBB is 🎯

Exactly, as the system exists currently, she can't just unilaterally wait for August if PSAs want to go to Creighton. A new calendar would help, and delaying offers is already happening in ice hockey, so it's not a novel concept: June 15 First contact date, no offers allowed June 15 First official visits, no offers allowed August 1 Offers allowed Programs can now officially combine camps with visits, which some of the elite schools are already creatively doing pre-June 15.

For those of us who aren't on Twixter, can you link her follow up thoughts? I'm assuming she had more than 1 point.

On the 1 week anniversary of “June 15th” here are my thoughts on this recruiting legislation for Division 1 VB
1. When this June 15th legislation was implemented it was to slow down the 8th & 9th grade commitments. This has been effective & needs 2 continue to be a priority. 🧵 2. Being able to make offers but athletes not being able to make Official or Unofficial visits until nearly 2 months later is counterintuitive. This needs to change. 3. Let’s consider allowing recruits to call coaches starting in January or February of sophomore year to start the relationship building process and learn more about the institutions they are considering attending. 4. We need to consider allowing coaches to give more info on their level of interest in an athlete earlier in the process. Currently, we can’t say anything regarding how they rank on our list until offer date—which means kids have no idea if they are #1 (likely getting an offer) or, let’s say, #5 (likely not getting an offer). The heartbreak we sometimes cause could be lessened if we are allowed to be more transparent earlier. We don’t necessarily need to throw all of our current legislation away, but we need to make it better. Coaches, athletes and parents, pass along your ideas in the comments.

Why didn’t she have her two commits wait until after their official visits before committing? If her suggestions are purely for the best interest of the athlete…
