Cri are on the struggle bus but they also faced a tough team who will probs medal (I think gold). You think the currently 8th ranked team in the Top 18 will win Gold? What puts Andre / George ahead of SWE, CZE, and especially Boermans / de Groot? I'm not mentioning NOR b/c of Anders' injury. I'd still favor NOR with a recuperating foot over BRA. This Brazil team is so inconsistent it's just crazy. That shows a lack of mental toughness. When is the last time a BRA men's team has won Gold in an Olympics held outside of Rio?

I think he’s just talking about this event. Not the Olympics…

Interesting the AUT v AUT match. Pristauz/Seidl are just outside the top 18 and need every point they can get in order to get to Paris... and their own countrymen, who are not even in the race, can hinder Austria2 from getting Paris, by beating them and thus keeping then from gaining additional points vs. Chile, and POL2.
edit... and they've done just that. What is the AUT federation doing?

Let me flesh out that AUT V AUT thought Ermacora / Waller have 3,220 points, Top 9, at present. That puts them so far from getting to about 6,000, which is the point total I think would be needed to break Top 18 (current rank position 18, top 9, is about 5500) So I'm not sure why the Austrian federation would put in another AUt TEAM That has the chance to hurt their only chance for a second team to play in Paris
Pristauz/Seidl are at Top 9 5,280. Had they advanced to Quarterfinals they could have entered into Top 18, or very close.

Mate. I mean in this Saquarema tournament. Lmao. Also Brazil has been in the mens final in every Olympics except the first and the last and have medalled six of 7 times. I wouldnt make them a favorite or anything but if they can get back in form, I'd say Andre/George have a decent chance at a bronze. (Maybe 25% or so)

Just saw a side angle replay of Alayo blocking Pedro just now. Alayo is getting his arms across the net as much as Phil used to... past the elbow. Alayo doesn't seem that tall, but his vertical must be amazing. And great form . .. he was almost horizontal to the ground, a real roof job, and Pedro's ball was down a full foot before it would even reach the net.

Considering the fact that Pristauz and Seidl broke up with their respective partners, I don't think these ex-partners (Ermacora / Waller) have much sympathy for them. And they won't help them to collect the points they need. The Austrian Federation is probably staying out of it.

At this point in time, at least as far as the Olympics is concerned, AUT will either have Pristauz/Seidl as AUT2, or there won't be an AUT2. Whether the Federation cares is another question.

Budinger with some smart blocking wins H. Mol in two sets. They overcame five H. Mol blocks. Evans with some smart sharp angles.

USA3 through to the Quarters. Looking forward, I have a question about the timing of calculating Entry Points for events. For example, thinking of Treo, at what date are their Entry Points calculated for the Brasilia E16, which has dates listed of May 1-5? Is it their Entry Point total as of today, or Monday, or what date? I seem to remember something about 30 days prior, but I'm just not sure.
Found it. It is 28 days. Therefore, on Monday Treo's Entry Points must include the Saquarema result. This drops their new Entry Point Total from a current 1820 to 1520. I don't think this gets them into the Brasilia Qualifier. They'd be a few teams down the Reserve List.
At the same time, Budinger's Entry Points which are currently 2000, which includes a 720 which will be timed out, would drop to 1880 if they do not advance to Semifinals. If they finish 3rd, their Entry Points remain at 2000. That might get them into MD, depends on how a bunch of teams do tonight and tomorrow.

if they don’t get it they go to CC. Those two teams might win a spot and then have to fight it out. I don’t know if there is no love lost between these two old partner teams. Maybe more self funded than federation. Or maybe federation lets them play it out. But yeah very different than FRA FRA women so CC can still be possible for AUT 3?
