They've just posted the Men's matches. Tri/Chaim have the great privilege of getting knocked out by BRA1 just as Treo did.
Mudinger with a great opportunity here. Should they prevail in their Rd. of 16 match vs. the wooly Mol, they pick up 600 points to replace their low counter of 460, so their gap to Treo reduces from 280 points to 140 points for finishing 5th. If they do prevail, they get the winner of the game between the winner of the play-in game, probably CUB, vs. BRA (6?). Man Brazil is so deep with talent on both men's and women's sides.
At this point it probably really will be over for Tri/Chaim. There are only 3 Challenge events left after Saquarema, and I don't think they'll be able to get into E16 Qualis... maybe they can, but it won't really matter if they continue playing like this. If they lose to BRA1 and finish 17th in Saquarema, their Entry Points will be 1360 for the Elite 16 first week of May in Brasilia. 1360 might not be enough to get into Qualis. The Entry Point cutoff in Doha was 1400.
If Chase/Miles win Gold in Saquarema, would they become USA2? If we're talkimg about Top 9, then yes. However, I'm changing my rank order to Top 10 now. This reflects how deep we are in the season, with only 3 Challenge events and 4 E16 remaining out of the 17 month qualifying period. Still, I think they would move ahead in the Top 10 Finishes list.
I'm not really concerned with how quickly USA3 replaces USA2. I care more that the team playing better ball at the beginning of June represent USA in Paris. And speaking of which, I really wonder about Menesh. it's been a long time since they placed well in the Elite 16. The E16 in Mexico third wk of April will be a good test.

I just realized that Treo have played themselves out of Elite 16 entry. Their new Entry Points total to be used for the E16 in Brasilia is 1520. The Entry Points needed to get in to Qualis in Mexico E16 currently, pending drops, is 1800. So while they're already into the E16 in Mexico in 3 weeks, that's it for E16 unless they get some better finishes in the Mexico Challenge, or the Mexico E16... but neither helps with the E16 in Brasilia that uses points as of next Monday... 1520.

Is there any point in Lupo/Rossi continuing? They do not play efficient Beach Volleyball. I thought they looked decent in Doha... Bummer last two qualifiers for them though. I know you need to play in any conditions but they were right there to close it out 2-0 vs chile. Check out that serve at 20-20 from Chile in set 2. Almost unbelievable how that ball moved. Set 3 Chile started back on the good side where they ended set 2 and first 5 points are something else. 3 aces from some crazy Aravena serving, a double touch called on Rossi and a transition kill to start up 5-0. Tough spot to be in but Chile really took full advantage of that head wind. Like Treo, ITA3 have played themselves out of having enough Entry Points to enter E16 Brasilia. Already they are on the Wait List for the mexico E16 qualifier. Now they have lost further points, down to counting 460, 460, 220. They won't get into any E16 Quali with that, so they need to get a finish at Guadalajara Challenge to re-enter this race for ITA2. I think that race is over at this point.

USA4 v. BRA1 going about to form. BRA up 4 breaks toward end of set 1. And BRA1 haven't even needed to put the serve on Chaim.

Imagine that, Chaim called for a double and... argues about it.
Set 1 over. Anything is possible but it would take a miracle for USA4 to come back form here.
If this keeps going this way, I think the future of Tri/Chaim lies in a high finish in Guadalajara... or Tepic if they get into Qualis off the Reserve list. They're just behind Rossi/Lupo, so there would need to be two withdrawals for them to play Tepic.
well, whatdayaknow, USA fighting hard and they're on serve in set 2, 5-5.\
Andre having zero bother with Tri's block so far. And when Chaim digs, who knows where it's going to go. A real box of chocolates.

Chaim taking net on Tri's serve is paying off. 3 straight aces. back to even at 9-9.
Tri still delivers on serve after BRA called TO to freeze him.

Announcer "BRA really dodged a wet sponge on that one". Must be a British phrase. Early on USA4 was all sixes and sevens, but have turned it around now. Still in it.
If Tri/Chaim had been playing this way over the past year, they wouldn't have one foot in the Olympic qualifying grave right now.

Oh, tough break USA, trickle ace puts them down by 2 breaks.

USA hopes now lie with USA3 in this tourney.
*edit* I read the brackets wrong. It is BRA1 who were placed in to face BRA (6?), with the winner of that one to face Mudinger should they beat the wooly Mol. And if that happens, odds are BRA1 take out the last remaining USA team after eliminating the USA4 and USA2.

Neither Tri nor Chaim seem to be good enough to do well at the moment, not even in a challenger tournament. And they are definitely not making each other better in some magical way either. It's just not a good partnership in my opinion.

Andre/George just walking through the US this weekend. Blowout in game 1, slow and steady beatdown in game 2. Cri are one step closer to the inevitable

Cri are one step closer to the inevitable maybe Travis has some psychological trick up his sleeve between now and Guadalajara in two weeks. But expecting a team to suddenly turn it around at this level is just wishful thinking. Tri and Chaim are both well past their primes. I feel the same about Pedro from BRA.
We can always remember the Tri who played with Hyden.
Oddly, I hear a faint trumpet sound in the distance... oh, it's Taps for team Cri.

I like the Cuban blocker. Sometimes he's a meathead but he's got a strong block. The Cuban defender annoys me. 7 ft and has so many hitting errors. He also runs under the ball to hit it. Smh.
Cri are on the struggle bus but they also faced a tough team who will probs medal (I think gold).
