That's a negative. As much as Hawaii has been in the crapper....they still help pay the bills for most of the other Olympic sports and the dept. Dropping them down to FCS is a non-option though I recognize it's been a rough decade if you are a UH football fan. If the other BWC schools can do it, without football, or having a football team in the FCS, why would Hawaii not be able to, just wondering. Because football is the bread and butter of the Athletic dept. Shocking I know considering how bad they've been for a while. The other programs can do it without football however, they don't have 2,500 miles of ocean separating themselves and their nearest opponent. For starters.

I wish the Hawaii Athletic Department would quit kidding themselves, thinking the Hawaii Football Program is a FBS football program. The Hawaii Football Program is at Best a FCS program. I mean, what FBS football program plays their football games on a High School football field. The Hawaii Athletic Program needs to serious think about dropping their football program to the FCS level, try to enter the Big Sky Conference, and keep all their other sports in the BWC. Do you realize that you are standing at the train station, and your train left 15 minutes ago?

But Hawaii has Hawaiian Air to cover those miles, for them. No other BWC team has an Airline doing that for them.

In fact, with the airline merger, Hawaii now has 2 airlines to chose from to cover those miles.

Would they be willing to provide so much support if football was downgraded, or eliminated?

I am not saying, eliminate football, altogether, that is a no go.

I hope our 4 teams can continue to compete in the Big West. I would especially miss those MVB grudge matches vs the Beach and Irvine. Does anyone know if the MPSF Men's VB will be impacted by the PAC 12 departures? Pac-12 departures are not going to conferences with MVB, so it will not have an impact on MPSF. The change coming to MPSF is the addition of two new D-2 programs, Vanguard and Menlo.

Please leave your black cloud away from the football team. "Can not" implies it is impossible. It wasn't that long ago that they were vying for conference titles, were in the rankings conversation, and getting national recognition for having a good team and sending players to the NFL. This is still a relatively new coaching staff after the program was essentially gutted, so it'll still take a few years before we can see how good they are.

This is still a relatively new coaching staff after the program was essentially gutted, so it'll still take a few years before we can see how good they are. You are talking to a deaf ear. Football is the only game in town for everyone else outside of the volleyball sphere. In this current state, Hawai'i will pocket 6 mil plus with all the buckets the MWC has laid out, as a football member only, (roughly 5%). That 6 mil is more than they received including the recent bowl game season 2020. They have been in 14 bowl appearances last beating Houston in 2020. No other BW school has been to a bowl game. Hawai'i will not drop to the FCS level. come 2026, they will receive %11 like everyone else in TV money, plus no more travel and hotel subsidies, which will save them an additional 2 million a year. The current agreement with the MWC is until 2032. Long-time deep-pocket donors behind the scenes have already pledged millions to the school. As the football program receives more money, it will trickle down to the rest of the athletic department and the non-revenue teams. The MWC is in talks with Northern Illinois and Toledo out of the MAC for football-only membership. If that happens, the MWC will be the only G5 conference in 5 different time zones, appealing to the sports cable networks. according to USA Today sportsbook wire, Saturday's match against Boise St. was a heavy-betting game because it was the last game of the day. Betters in Vegas were glued to the game with millions of dollars changing hands.

usctrojans.com/sports/mens-volleyball/schedule/2025Outrigger Invitational (March 13-15) - Penn State, USC, Ball State, Hawaii Good rpi schedule so far with the addition of the two Harvard matches to start the season. Sprinkle in a few gems out east (CC, NEC, more EIVA would be ideal).
