Congrats to Tread on Big West FOY. Even though the season pretty much unraveled after Spyros went down Tread’s decision to come in early had more benefits than not. UH has the strong interest of the two very best setters (with great potential) in the 2027 class so the cycle of amazing starting setters will just continue for UH. These kids want to be the next Joe, Jakob or Tread. Congrats to Tread for earning the BWFOY!

Agreed! Alaka'i had a good season but he wasn't going to be that hitter to put the team on his back consistently. When Spyros was involved, Alaka'i was putting down kills with some volume and with efficiency. When Spyros was involved they were also playing a lot more soft teams. The big west doesn't give many chances to pad stats, you have to really earn your kills. He had a good season but not great Todd hit .367 and .600 against Stanford, .583 against Lewis, and .692 vs GCU before Spyros got injured. I thought he was on his way to getting on the All-America first team.

Yes his sets weren't always pretty. But this season will serve us well for players like Tread in the long run.

Looks like our middles are set for next year!!! Was hoping we’d land an all world middle but he’s just too good to play college.

Maybe that was part of the reason Keoni was getting as much time as he got? The coaching staff might have known he was leaving but knows what the guy means to the team and was serviceable enough to allow Chaz to not overload himself.
Either way, best of luck to him and definitely a lot of programs who could use his serve, energy, and grit

Chaz wasnt 100% so it's logical to bring the next guy in

Kurt Nusterer could get close to that, or at least close to being another Patrick Gasman. He just needs to work hard in the weight room, put on more muscle. Remember he just finished his sophomore year. Finished the year, really strong.

I am quite sure Charlie Wade and staff will make sure they have a backup, or two, at every position. Do not think they want to go through another season like this past one, when they did not have a legitimate backup at every position.

Do not think they want to go through another season like this past one, when they did not have a legitimate backup at every position. Hawaii already has 5 middles with Nuerster, Hazan, Thompson, Parks and Yewchuk already on board. Payne comes in the following season. If I had to guess, they probably are targeting a 3rd setter, another passing OH, libero, and possibly another middle perhaps. We see but Hawaii is stacked already. Anymore just adds to the depth at this point. Also, Hawaii has had success converting middles like Hogland and Averill so I wouldn't doubt that someone like Yewchuk as an example surprises. Or someone like Parks steps up next season. Seddik was a possible thought but good for him to go pro. He will beast for sure.

You need at least a couple months away from this community.
