I got to chat with Kurt at the Beach/Eaters match and told him that he played solid in the BWC tourney and that my wife and I were looking forward to seeing him on the court next season. Kurt and Keoni are a dynamic duo.
Keoni is likely headed to a MPSF school that can guarantee him a starting spot. I don’t think Wade could do that with who he is bringing in.

He will do great wherever he goes. Now Kurt’s Instagram stories make sense. It wasn’t Kurt, it was Keoni that was leaving.

Congrats to Tread on Big West FOY. Even though the season pretty much unraveled after Spyros went down Tread’s decision to come in early had more benefits than not. UH has the strong interest of the two very best setters (with great potential) in the 2027 class so the cycle of amazing starting setters will just continue for UH. These kids want to be the next Joe, Jakob or Tread.

Also are we continuing an upward trend and having a 7ft+ setter post Tread? lol Jokes aside, having those players be interested in Hawaii this early shows that the future of Hawaii setting is in good hands.

But had Spyros been on the floor, he demands so much attention because of his CONSISTENCY that it opened up Alakai to get his kills down. Spyros was consistent night in and night out. And because of his all around threat and everything he did on that floor, it helped the others play better. Alakai may not have been great....but he was certainly what we needed when Spyros was at the other pin. He fed off of Spyros in a way. They all did. With him not on the floor....it was obvious something was off. And they really never recovered after that. Sure, having a player like Chakas makes you better... but most if not all the other players on the list were that guy for their team and didn't have Chakas next to them. Actually you just confirmed to me why Spyros going down was detrimental to Hawaii's success and why the wind got sucked out the gym as soon as he went down. Because everyone and their mama knew at that moment any chance of Hawaii competing for a natty was out the door.

And I hope the team he lands on we don't play. He gonna pull a Shewie and go hard after UH. Lol I guess the people that didn't like his actions after a play are happy.

Keoni wants to play. He is not going to get real PT staying on a Top 5 team roster. He got a championship ring already so in his last season, it’s all about getting a chance to start….kind of like Shewie.
Good Luck to the kid.

With Roure, Sakanoko, Justin Todd….all oozing big time potential, it will be a battle for PT. We also don’t even know who the transfers are. Not to mention the possibility of Finn being moved to OH, it will be a log jam of big time potential OHs on the team. All the OHs have size too so Keoni will face an uphill battle from the get go.

We have enough pin hitters but the question is, how many of them can pass at the D1 level? Roure seems to be a capable passer but I hope we can find another passer within the mix or I guess a one and done transfer LS pin could be the answer until Stavros arrives. Passing was an issue for Hawaii after Spyros went down, and sure he wasn't the best passer but he was adequate.

I like the idea of Finn being used either left or right, kinda like what Stijn did. I'm hoping he is a decent enough passer.

Some of his passes were right on the money but not consistent enough. Young man needs to just keep working. He will get there.
