I got to chat with Kurt at the Beach/Eaters match and told him that he played solid in the BWC tourney and that my wife and I were looking forward to seeing him on the court next season. Kurt and Keoni are a dynamic duo.
It's nice to hear that you and your wife encouraged him! I like hearing these types of stories unlike some of the things we heard during the 2023 Wahine season.

Am I wrong in thinking that Todd should've been first team for the Big West? Or was his numbers declining in conference play? Hit .248 with 3.00 kills per set in conference play, hit .329 with 3.14 kills per set overall. I suspect the lack of another reliable terminator (Spyros) may have something to do with that.

Alaka'i had a good season but he wasn't going to be that hitter to put the team on his back consistently. When Spyros was involved, Alaka'i was putting down kills with some volume and with efficiency.

Gianchi and Cherfan and even Varga were all better than Todd. They all deserved to be on the team.

you gonna try the Capital One lounge when you leave? I've actually never tried it! Have you? Yup! It's close to the train stop (D gate?) so it's easy to get to. Good free food and drinks is always welcome lol

The big west doesn't give many chances to pad stats, you have to really earn your kills. He had a good season but not great

He had a good season but not great But had Spyros been on the floor, he demands so much attention because of his CONSISTENCY that it opened up Alakai to get his kills down. Spyros was consistent night in and night out. And because of his all around threat and everything he did on that floor, it helped the others play better. Alakai may not have been great....but he was certainly what we needed when Spyros was at the other pin. He fed off of Spyros in a way. They all did. With him not on the floor....it was obvious something was off. And they really never recovered after that.

My wish for next year is a Hawaii schedule that challenges this team and gives them their best shot at a strong resume at the end of the year. And yes, grow the game π€£ I'd expect something similar to this year. Lots of young guys so can't load up on only BW/MPSF/MIVA/EIVA. My guess will have 3-4 SIACs & NECs. Expect a trip to the east coast too to prep for the NCAA tourney in Ohio

Sure, having a player like Chakas makes you better... but most if not all the other players on the list were that guy for their team and didn't have Chakas next to them.
