I'm pretty sure he only spent his senior year of high school in Hawaii? Maybe to establish residency? Yewchuk attended Damien his Jr year in HS so he didnāt come to Hawaii just for that one year like Kai and Justin. Here is his bio. Itās his bio so itās not written by some student writer. 11th grade at Damien and 12th at Moanalua. zackyewchuk.com/Thanks, his bio is interesting. Did he reclassify his grade when he moved? Says he played 11th grade in Canada and 11th grade in Hawaii. Or maybe Canada is like Wisconsin Boys and plays their season in the fall? Therefore, he transferred middle of junior year? Looks like it was his dream to play at UH, he started attending camps in 2018.

Unfortunately, going to your dream school does not work out.... especially if your dream school don't reciprocate the same love. Good luck to Zach. He knew he had a huge mountain to climb to get PT with all the big shots coming in.

Zack Yewchuk transferring to a BC college? Yep, TWU (Trinity Western Spartans). If I'm not mistaken, they're usually a strong team in Canada.

Kainoa Wade just completely demolished in the HHSAA championship match between Kamehameha vs Punahou. He had 34 kills in the whole match, arm swing did not look tired at any point throughout the 4 sets. Mechanically, he just looks clean while swinging.

Congratulations to Kainoa Wade and the Kamehameha Warriors for winning the Hawaii state title. I didn't think they would do it but they did. Kainoa absolutely took over and denied Punahou a state title for the first time in 10 years.

That young man may not be as polished or even have the experience like some of the others coming in....but some folk here need to stop overlooking the boy. You can tell he is super hungry coming in. And that's exactly what is needed.

Kamehameha as a team played well. Wade carried the offensive load (34 K, 76 attempts) and contributed big defensively (3 blocks, 11 digs), Conor Williams (OH - 10K) had an excellent match that took some load off Wade and kept things balanced, Harryzen Soares (16 digs) was outstanding at libero, Brayden Van Kuren set a nice match and was making good decisions (41 assists), and Poukihi Awai was in on five blocks. Coach Agpoon spun the wheel on the rotation in the 3rd set, Starting Wade in the backrow, and that seemed to confuse Punahou's defensive game plan vs. Wade. Quote of the match: "He's an all-world talent," Punahou coach Rick Tune said of the 6-foot-9 junior opposite. "Kainoa just took it to a whole ānother level tonight." scoringlive.com/story.php?storyid=19797

Congratulations to Kamehameha. In the end, Kamehameha grew stronger as Punahou started to crumble. Itās crazy to think that Kainoa is only a junior. He reminds me of Pono Maāa (Imua ā82). Pono was so polished even as a sophomore, back then, most of us thought he was so tall and skilled, we knew he was levels above us all, but he was so humble, hard working and genuine. Kainoa has the same vibes. Humble, hard working, and grateful. It says alot about how he was raised and who raised him, both his family and his village. Canāt wait to see what lies ahead.

The best thing for Kainoa coming in earlyā¦other than getting a head start on his academic career is his ability to access D 1 level strength and conditioning program. At Kamehameha, he had to focus on school a lot more than your average teen due to him wanting to graduate early. In college, he be near people to help his body grow and put on more muscle, jump high and hit harder. Being the coachās son, his volleyball IQ is pretty high. Physically, he will grow and get even better.

A fun and interesting question to ask Charlie would be if he ever thought of making Kainoa a setter earlier in his hanabatta days. Hawaii has put out some very good settersā¦.both on the menās and women side. Being a coach, did he want his son to be the āquarterbackā of a team?
