Congrats to incoming freshman Kainoa Wade and Presley Longfellow on getting 2nd in 18 Open at AAU's! That’s….unexpected wow Their ball control got 100% better without Kai & Kahale. All they needed to do was get digs & good block touches to give Kainoa more chances to transition. |

Wait, someone really said this?!? That kid is the reason why is team won 16 open at AAU nationals. He mixes up his shots well and is not too shabby as a passer and defender. Yes! In one of the the Hawaii chats back when Jade Demps was considering Hawaii when she was in the portal, I had said something about snagging her and hopefully having a good chance at her brother in a couple years and some fool shot it down. Don’t remember who it was but safe to say, whoever it was, cannot judge volleyball talent to save their lives. I think I remember this happening, lol. |

the more I watch Kainoa the more I wonder if converting him to an outside is really the way to go.
The kid is a true opposite. He has the physicality and mechanics that fit that position perfectly (the only thing missing is if he was a lefty). Other than that, he hits from that side of the court naturally and puts up the strongest block possible.
Not saying Kainoa can't develop into an outside, just that it's going to take a lot of work on passing/defense not to mention energy and for someone his size that can take a lot of out you.

I hate to stir stuff up again but I can’t believe one of you dummies really said that Demps was not worth recruiting for Hawaii. What an idiotic thing to say and I am convinced a lot of you THINK you can judge talent but don’t have an actual clue. For the life of me - I can't understand why grown adults can't just agree to disagree. It is completely possible to articulate opposing views on any subject matter with respect without calling each other names and just being disrespectful. I've always heard of VT being super toxic and tbh I joined b/c I love reading what may or may not be happening in regards to UH Vball. For the most part - since I've joined it's been fun and interesting but little things like this make me super disappointed. Take the high road, be mature gee wiz. |

Other than that, he hits from that side of the court naturally and puts up the strongest block possible. Not saying Kainoa can't develop into an outside, just that it's going to take a lot of work on passing/defense not to mention energy and for someone his size that can take a lot of out you. With both Kearney and Wade planned to take reps at the left, I would suspect only 1 will actually make the shift, the other focusing on working their skills up until they can be a passing opposite and an emergency option at the outside (Coach Wade seems to like his "next man up" pins to be both side players, Humler and Sakanoko both taking that role in the past) Wade staying at the opposite depth and Kearney moving to outside seems like the most likely guess as it stands. |

You can always use the block function. It works wonders.
