Justin Todd was invited to train with Italian Men's professional team, Volley Lube for three weeks. Jacob Thelle played at Volley Lube last year and Alex Nikolov left Long Beach to play professionally at Lube. Here is a (browser-translated) version of the Lube website News article, " The promising spiker Justin Todd on the court with Lube until August 31"... A promising young American jumps and sweats with Cucine Lube Civitanova to keep the level of technical sessions high during athletic training. The spiker Justin Todd, born in 2005, 200 cm tall and back from the year in the band with the Hawaii University jersey, an adventure that ended with third place in the Big West Conference and ninth place in the NCAA, arrived in Italy in recent days to face a 14-day summer internship in red and white at the court of Giampaolo Medei. Davi Tenorio's roommate, the big American boy will end his Civitanova experience on August 31, when he will reach Bologna and fly to the States.
Justin, what are your impressions during this internship at Lube?
Todd: "For me it is a real honor to train in a building and on a field where I have seen many legends play. Even if the championship is stopped, when I look towards the stands I can feel the energy of the Italian fans who support Lube on my skin. Working here is very nice and I hope that one day I can return to Civitanova Marche to play for a chance".
From Hawaii to Civitanova Marche, what do you think of this city?
"I must say that I liked it immediately, a really beautiful city. First of all, it is bathed by the sea like Hawaii, a first strong point for me. Here too I eat excellent Sushi and many other fish dishes. I also love swimming, so Civitanova is promoted and I consider it an ideal place to live".
At the end of August you will return to your homeland. Do you think that one day we will see you again in Italy, perhaps in the SuperLega Credem Banca championship?
"I think I have the requisites to get involved even in a tough tournament like the Italian top flight. I am confident in my means and thinking of achieving a high goal like this reflects my mentality. I really hope to be able to return and play in SuperLega one day!"Lol this just reads like a translated article which made me laugh

Bulgaria (Titriyski) vs Greece (little Mouchlias)
@18:30 Stavros got a monster block on Kristian. Also, a reminder that this is the CEV U20 and Stavros is still 16.

Starting to wonder if Charlie Wade, and Eran Ganot, are communicating with each other. Cause both Head Coaches are bringing in a lot of European players to their respective teams. I know, the two Head Coaches are coaching in different sports, but still, you have to wonder.

For basketball I'm guessing there is no way Hawaii is competitive with American kids in terms of NIL money. So getting good recruits from the states is tough. Foreign students can't receive NIL money, so Hawaii has a chance if they do some good old fashioned recruiting.

It doesn't surprise me that Eran continues that tradition having served under Riley in the past.

Would have stayed up to watch this match if it wasn't pay per view. Meh I'll wait until the season starts. Looking at the highlights though and what someone said on Instagram saying Roure might be the best 2024 recruit, you might want to check on their setter Simeon Nikolov, dude is already baller and haven't been hyped for a recruit in ages and he might already be the best setter in the NCAAs next year.

Of course he's not a Hawaii recruit but still relevant to Hawaii volleyball since we'll most likely see him at least twice this season if not more. If he's not a one and done recruit, I will be Shocked.

We could care less about Nikolov tbh. People consider Roure to be the #1 overall recruit only because of his all around game. Now whether that is true or not remains to be seen. But Hawaii is stacked and will be battling for another natty this year as usual.
