Am I reading this right? Juniata is hosting Bracket 1 at Moravian University rather than than their own campus? Close enough that home advantage stills holds (as if that matters for Juniata) but still a bit surprising.

1's as promised are the top 8 teams. 2's and 3's Also fall in line 9-16 and 17-24. 1 and 16 are together, 8 and 9 are together, 15 Trinity vs 17 Whitworth is logical and compelling. Nice work. 4's also fall in like 25-32 - Highest is #25 Va. Wesleyan - congrats you get Juniata. Lowest is Eau Claire who is at White water because geography.
5's start to unravel a tad. Highest is 33 Springfield, 34 Carnegie, 35 Transy, 36 Gallaudet, 37 William Smith, 38 Stevens Point, 39 Centre and... 43 Northwestern.
6's get wild. Highest is our missing 5, Middlebury. Edgewood at 58, Dubuque at 67, Lowest is Berry at 92.
7's Highest is Lasell at 55. Allegheny at 59, UMass Dartmouth at 60, Cornell at 74, St. Bens at 88, St. John Fisher at 90, Southern Va at 107 and Manhattanville at 133
8's Highest is Ohio Wesleyan at 95, Greenville at 143, Covenant at 155, then John Jay at 166, Maine Maritime at 169, Marymount at 210, Bridgewater State at 236 and Penn State Altoona at 240.
So overall this is a pretty balanced tournament - Juniata getting the highest 4 seed, 5 seed and 6 seed seems odd, but they are probably only playing one of them and they get the lowest 2, which they earned.
That Berry is 3 spots ahead of Ohio Wesleyan and is a 6 who gets Whitworth flying in to play them at a gym they know well, while 95 Ohio Wesleyan gets sent to play Whitewater at Whitewater seems like a massive difference for 3 places but that's geography and travel costs for you.

Smith wins at MIT in 5, crazy match Crazy is a pretty fair statement. I was at the match and it was really hard fought. Smith brought in their A game and a huge cheering section. MIT was not on their A game, but showed flashes of how they can play. First set Smith came out hot and got a large lead mid set but MIT was able to shift the momentum by having some good runs, but still a strong win in set one for Smith. Set two, MIT came out with a nice early lead and Smith fought hard to make it close, but MIT took set two. Third set was a close one throughout, but Smith came out on top. 4th set MIT just crushed them. So tied at 2 sets per. 5th set Smith got a large early lead (like 10-4) and MIT started to make it close and brought it to within 3, but not enough points to play to catch up in a short set and bad on MIT to let Smith take them to a fifth. Overall some very good volleyball with Smith looking much stronger than when we played them earlier in the season. 25-17, 21-25, 25-21, 16-25, 15-11 Congrats to Smith!

What's the best way to analyze strength of regionals? Average Pablo? Average Pablo of top 4 teams in a region so bottom feeders don't skew average?

Here are the average and median NPI ranks by region. Compared to the old days these regions are pretty balanced. Region | average NPI | median NPI | Juniata | 63 | 29 | MIT | 47 | 33 | Emory | 56 | 31 | Hope | 49 | 34 | Whitewater | 44 | 38 | Chris Newport | 47 | 34 | John Hopkins | 55 | 31 | Marietta | 56 | 34 |

Pablo #15 Calvin and #17 Ohio Northern are not in. #72 William Smith is a Pool C team. So while the numbers are balanced on NPI, I imagine there will be some oddities with Pablo just because they don't look at that.

An I correct that the National RAC can adjust the value of Win% and SOS yearly? And can anyone explain how quality win points work?

Everything is locked for two years, and then the dials can be adjusted by the national committee. This is my understanding (please correct me if I am wrong): For every opponent, there is a win value and a loss value. A team's NPI is the average of their win values for wins and loss values for losses. QWB's are applied to a team's win value. Here's an example - Team A has an NPI of 58.34 and a QWB of 0.760....any team that beats Team A will get a win value of 59.1 to be factored into their NPI score... The NPI site is currently not opening because of too much traffic so I can't give specific examples

The NPI site is currently not opening because of too much traffic so I can't give specific examples to add to this... if a win would lower your average it is not counted. Same for a loss that would help your average. BUT you must count a minimum of 10 wins. so if a team has NPI of 55 and beats a team that would only add 53. it is not counted. same if they lose to a team that would add 58.

This example is not quite right. If your opponents NPI is 58, a win against them is worth 20 +.8*58 = 66.4 . Additionally, you receive a Quality Win bonus since the opponent's NPI is greater than 55.5. Specifically the quality win bonus would be .6*(58-55.5) = 1.5. So the value of beating that team is 66.4+1.5= 67.9. If you would lose to that team, the value is .8*58= 46.4.
