BYU even being ranked is a choice. TCU that low is also another choice lol I don't know why it's so crazy that they're ranked. They're 7-3 with three five-set losses to Oregon, Georgia Tech and San Diego. The latter is the worst of the three losses, but I don't think it's that bad, as San Diego is usually at least decent. BYU is a talented but inexperienced team. I'm not saying that they have to be ranked (I'd probably have them in the 20-25 range), but you're making it sound like the coaches are ranking a team with a losing record or something.

Yeah, I just looked at Arizona State's schedule. I'm sticking with Kansas to win the Big 12. Definitely going with KU, but what I will say about ASU is their nonconference schedule was even worse last year (no one in the realm of Nebraska) and they did well against a stronger conference slate than they'll face this year.

Sure, they could end up being really good. I'd pick ASU second and wouldn't be shocked if they won it. Kansas has just done more so far at this point.

Just looking at non-conference records is misleading. For instance, Colorado has the 4th toughest strength-of-schedule among the Big 12 so far (#52 of 346 teams in D1), and an elite team like Kansas is just behind them in overall opponent SOS at #57.
If Colorado played the same teams as Arizona did (currently #282 SOS), they would have a much better record.
Also, Iowa State is likely not as bad as they appear. They had the 10th toughest SOS in the nation, and 1st in the Big 12.

Week 4:
Offensive Player of the Week Camryn Turner, Kansas, S, Sr.
Defensive Player of the Week Brooke Stonestreet, Iowa State, L, Sr.
Rookie of the Week Avery Scoggins, Arizona, S, Fr.
Kansas’ Camryn Turner (offensive), Iowa State’s Brooke Stonestreet (defensive) and Arizona’s Avery Scoggins (rookie) collected Big 12 weekly volleyball accolades for the final full week of non-conference play.
Turner tied her career-high with 59 assists in a four-set victory over then-No. 6 Purdue while adding 17 digs. The 2023 Big 12 Setter of the Year had double-doubles in all three matches during the week including 28 assists with 10 digs against now-No. 6 Creighton. The Topeka, Kansas native surpassed the 3,000 career assists mark during the week (3,080) while earning her third career weekly league honor.
Stonestreet led the Conference with 5.89 digs per set during the week. She put up 26 digs against Colgate before posting her first career double-double with 27 digs and a career-high 10 assists against Syracuse to win her fifth career weekly Conference award.
Scoggins recorded 75 assists and led the league with 12.50 assists per set (fourth nationally during the week) to help Arizona sweep the Wildcat Classic while improving to 11-0 on the season. It marks the first time the Wildcats have finished the non-conference slate undefeated since 2009. She notched her third double-double of the season with 38 assists and 10 digs in Arizona’s sweep over North Dakota State. Scoggins is the second Wildcat freshman to win Rookie of the Week this season, joining Carlie Cisneros who earned honors on Sept. 3.

I didn't realize it did this. Anyway, here's the story about Avery Scoggins and Rookie of the Week this week. There are some quotes from her and Rita in it. The Wildcats are getting a lot from their freshmen this season. Avery has improved the setting. Carlie has been as advertised. Picking up Brenna Ginder late in the recruiting process after West Virginia changed coaches has been a huge get. Only Adriann Bridges isn't playing much, but she's got three players with more college experience ahead of her right now. I think she'll be good in the future. Just has to wait her turn for now.

Arizona State and Kansas are neck and neck in terms of projection to win conference this year. I think Kansas gets a slight edge in the schedule - but the only match between the two is @ Arizona State.
Last night probably made the remaining schedules more even as Arizona State had the more impressive win.
Very little talked nationally about ASU - I think they are really good. @ Baylor on Friday should be another good test for them.

Houston swept Kansas State? I’m genuinely worried they’re not even gonna be able to beat like Cincinnati and West Virginia at this point
although they’re somehow magically gonna click when they play arizona aren’t they…
