The more I look at the pool, the more it feels like C has the most potential for a rock-paper-scissor situation, with USA, Japan, and Argentina all going 1-1 against each other and Germany being the wild card. For me, the more I look at all the pools, the more I don't know what the most likely outcomes are for each of them , except pool B with Egypt. And that will make an excellent tournament!!! I’m not ready for the chaos! And it will be sad seeing good teams not make it out of these tough pools… and the medal rounds gonna go crazy too!

That's well said. And with only 3 pool matches, every set and every point will matter. This has the makings of a very competitive and fun olympics. The most intriguing line through the last several years for me is Brazil. The last several outings, I've kind of written them off because they just haven't looked that good. That said, it feels like one of those "doubt Brazil at your own risk" kind of things, even when stacked in the same pool as Italy and Poland. Yeah how Brazil performs in this Olympics will depend on their OH duo. They are just not steady enough to me but they do have a very high ceiling.

This is probably what I would predict with the final 8 teams advancing to the quarterfinals: Pool A: France, Slovenia Pool B: Poland, Italy Pool C: Japan, USA Final 2 spot: Brazil, and Germany. I want Canada to get in but I am not sure. I also don't think Argentina will make it out of the Pool C based on what we seen from this VNL.

Tbh, it’s totally possible that Brazil doesn’t beat Poland and Italy, and therefore may not have a good enough record to advance. Which would be wild

It seems like forever since they had a 3rd OH in the queue ready to fully contribute on a big stage.

They will probably not ready for this big stage either.

Anzani out of consideration for the Olympics, due to health issues. That sucks. I wonder who will be that third middle for Italy.

They're both fairly good attackers but Mosca was by far the better blocker. They both had 9 positive touches during VNL but Mosca had 11 blocks to Sanguinetti's 4. Mosca also went on more service runs.
