As a general guess, who are we going with? (age is them by 2028)
I've got: S: Christansen, 35, Maa (if no christiansen, then tuaniga, issacson or Rowan) OH: TJ, russell and jaeske, 34, Jordan ewert (or whoever emerges as 4th OH. I like Ewert, does more than GM and can pass just as well) MB: averill, jendryk, knigge (or whoever emerges. maybe mchenry, maybe someone else?) oppo: gabi (prob), ensing (maybe hanes but again maybe. can also see a new guy here, maybe Sani?) lib: Shoji, 38, (if not then dagostino)
Honestly not too much movement from this go around. For starters I see, Christiansen, TJ, Russell, Jaeske, Averill, Jendryk, shoji. That's only 2 new starters in Jaeseke and Jendryk, maybe 3 if shoji goes. I can see the US use the 3 OHs with Rusell moving RS, TJ as OH1 and Jaeske as OH2. I really don't want TJ as RS but rather switching off occasionally. He's too lethal at OH.
Not too bad at the end of the day. Not too many moving pieces, but obviously going to miss the guys. I do think, USAV isn't in some huge drought now though

Will be interesting to see if Ezeonu can continue to improve, get international experience and push somebody for LA. Or maybe he's done playing - anybody have insight?

During the first match of the tournament for the US one of the announcers said every pin was retiring from the national team except Aaron Russel. If that's true, the National team will be in a tough spot.
None of the younger guys really excite me. Maybe that's because guys like Russel, Jaeschke, Micah, TJ, etc basically went straight from college and made an impact. We were spoiled with this current group.

In my opinion, speraw has got to go. Need something new to inspire the guys.

Start naturalizing some OH who has powerful strike is the most important thing. This team has techniques, but ultimately, OOS powerful strikes is what is lack of. USA cannot produce high-quality OH/OPPO with strong arm.

I think this always comes back to we need a pro league in the US. We can't count on our players going to Europe after college.

I think this always comes back to we need a pro league in the US. We can't count on our players going to Europe after college. another thing to add is that sometimes our American players first year or two abroad is in mid/low level leagues. Yes, they all have to start somewhere, but looking at some of these locations they end up in is a head scratcher. there is also the competition/favoritism of competing with the locals in that respective league/country which sometimes result in a wasted year on the bench not developing. Finland: Toby Ezeonu, Camden Gianni, Brett Sheward, Matt West, Kaleb Jenness, Jaylen Jasper Austria: Kyle Paulson, Kyle Hobus Spain: Clarke Godbold, Alaka'i Todd Switzerland: Kevin Kauling, Connor Campbell Romania: Corey Chavers Czech Republic: Felix Egharevba Estonia: Rico Wardlow

If McHenry isn’t in the group of middles in contention for LA by 2028 his development got jacked. Dude hit .575 this year and was MPSF player of the year as a 3-Ro player.
Would love to know why he wasn’t in the USA Gym this summer

Andy Read (LBSU) was the coach and he had McHenry as the 4th option behind Gasman, Marshman, and Wetter.

Also first time in history of olympics we're not taking home a medal in Beach... usually at least we get a medal on one of the genders. Not a great year for USA VB at the olympics.. Maybe the women upset Brazil??

Anyone else thinking TJ moves to beach for 2028? I don’t want it but feels inevitable for some reason

Anyone else thinking TJ moves to beach for 2028? I don’t want it but feels inevitable for some reason if i remember correctly, the commentator on the first US olympic pool play game, said that basically all the pins were retiring from NT play which included TJ. I could be mistaken but that's what I heard, so it wouldn't shock me.

Has Anderson announced his plan to retire or are you just assuming due to age he will?

Has Anderson announced his plan to retire or are you just assuming due to age he will? He may try and stick around. About 2 months ago, he did an AMA on instagram and said that LA 2028 wasn’t off the table
