its win, win for you. I am not a fan of either team, but I got a feeling OSU may hammer them. Either way, UF gets a whole pile of cash!

I have no doubt that Dave will be successful at BSU (or anywhere he goes for that matter.)
He will be missed at Minnesota, but I wish him the best of luck at Ball State.

First thing he's gonna wanna do is have Dr. Phil come in and give his team some counseling. Lotta fractured fairy tales on that team right now, bud.

I really don't get it. Seriously, David.......the head coaching job was yours in 3 years.....in the 2nd best conference in the nation....with a team that is consitently 1-2-or3 in the conference.....a top 10 program........great pay (Hebert makes over 100k), great fans (#4 in the nation in attendance last year).....
But good luck to ya.

This has been mentioned ad nauseum, so let me clarify this one last time for posters (like snickers) who keep bringing it up - Dave is NOT guaranteed the position when Mike retires! This scenario is exactly the same as when people said Charlie Wade was making a mistake taking the UOP job because he was a "shoe-in" at Hawaii when Dave Shoji retires (which everyone knows also isn't the case). Dave left MN for the same reasons Charlie left HI - to get head coaching experience so he could one day return and be the head coach of that program (ie. - Charlie to Hawaii and Dave to Minnesota - if they choose). So if you look at it, this was a very smart move on Dave's part and I know he'll do a great job at Ball State! Besides, with Mike as his counsel, do you really think Dave would leave if it jeopardized his chances at the MN job down the road? Of course not, he was advised by the very person who's voice will carry the most weight when he decides to step down - Mike's! Much the same way Dave Shoji's voice will speak volumes about who they choose to succeed him at Hawaii! So again, good move by Dave, I wish him the best of luck! He's walking into a difficult situation, but I know he'll handle it well.

Boos will do a great job at BSU, I think he will be a good fit. It is the perfect first coaching job IMO. Given the situation and his personality, he will "about face" the program right away. Ohio is the only program that he can't hurdle pretty quickly in the MAC. YOu have an amazing base of volleyball supporters in the area, and a school that loves volleyball. I am pretty sure that if Dave felt he was in line for the Minnesota job, he may have stayed. I am sure the UM administration really likes Dave, but the Minnesota job will be a job, in which they can hire a top head coach with a winning history, where as Boos would still be an unproven commodity as a head coach.

So now the question is, who does Boos hire as assistants and who does Hebert hire to replace Boos?

Mike already had a "short list" of candidates and discussions are presently underway (although - at this time - I'm not a liberty to disclose anyone on it). However, keep in mind that Mike helped and encouraged Dave with his move to Ball State, so you can rest assured that he wasn't caught off guard (and thus unprepared) by Dave's departure.
