If she's graduating in four years and has determined that she just wants to move on with her life, what's the big deal? I know of a player who had petitioned/gotten a medical redshirt but decided after the fourth year to just hang it up after graduating on time. That even let the coaches know that they had another scholarship available, which they used. It's not a big deal at all except to one or two people who seem to think they have a right to know things that are in fact none of their business. You're right, these things happen and it's up to the individual to decide what's best for them. As for Alicia, I wish her the best of luck in whatever she pursues. She was an integral part of the Wahine and will be missed.

Nope. Her five year window (starting from her initial full-time college enrollment in Fall 2003) to complete all available NCAA eligibility is up this season. There are a few exceptions that stop the clock, such as entering military service, going on a church mission, or (ahem) pregnancy. It sounds like she's hanging 'em up for good. The NCAA also grants a sixth year in extreme cases of injuries over multiple seasons. So what's the word? Has anyone asked her if she'd be interested in on Senior Night festivities this Fall? Aww shucks.... I was hoping she could come back out of the blue sort of like how Yamasaki did back in 2001. Yamazaki did that in the fifth year. BTW - I just wanted to clarify something. If Arnott first enrolled in college in Fall 2003, the last year she could complete any NCAA eligibility is the 2007-8 academic year, short of the exceptions that stop the clock. Redshirting a season doesn't stop the clock. Someone entering early (Winter/Spring terms) would have to cease all NCAA sports after after five Fall terms. Entering early works for women's volleyball or football, but doesn't for other sports with a different calendar.

so as i asked you in the return im to you - are you now saying arnott lied when she stated to the media that the reason why she wanted to redshirt her senior year was to get her confidence back and be much better next season?? and look now - she quit the team -- now how does that equal a 'dedicated hearty player'?? Why is it so important that we catch Arnott in a "lie"? If she provided a reason for redshirting ... and then months later, if her circumstances change and she decides instead to forego her final year ... Well, that doesn't make her a liar. It just means things have changed, nothing more, nothing less. Unless she's being accused of never intending to follow through on her earlier statements. Or unless what is really being demanded of her is her exact, specific reason for leaving the team... And well, she doesn't owe us that. In the end, no one knows the true story (not even Sexy). We can all speculate but we don't know. Concluding that she has no heart is not based on anything real ... it's just speculation and someone's opinion... the only person calling arnott a 'liar' is idaho -- if i wanted to call arnott a 'liar' i would just come out with it and call her a 'liar' -- but she hasnt given any reason for me to call her such -- so perhaps you should ask idaho why he is saying both dave shoji and arnott had lied to the media on why she wanted to redshirt her senior year

Yamazaki did that in the fifth year. Yamasaki. I'm surprised you missed that, BC. You on meds today, or something?

I was not disputing BC's studliness. That, of course, is a given.

Well, since you are incapable of letting things drop -- I was thinking of you and Wolfgang but I guess in actuality that would only be one person. Hmmmm? I have to admit it is fun to watch you talk to each other though. Kind of a Sybil thing.

Oh, shut up, sexy! I hate it when people assume we're one and the same person. We're obviously not. I don't like the association though.
I liked it better when people assumed I was chancelucky. At least he was coherent.
