The 24 girls who are invited to try out for the 12 spots on the JNT team this summer have been notified that they are invited to a second round try-out in Austin (see High Performance page on USVBA website). This should be a combination of rising college freshmen and sophomore (current frosh and high school seniors). Anyone know who is on this list?

Yes, the numbers you see are the girls selected . www.usavolleyball.org/HighPerformance/07GJTryoutResults.asp It's a code used until they officially accept. As I understand it,first two numbers are month of birth, next two day of birth, then the last four numbers of their SS number. In the case of AE,KM, and SR some of the above information may not have been available such as last four of ss # , they may have used the intials of the player. If you have nothing to do today this may be a good project for someone.I myself will just wait ,cuz I really don't care who made it. 01267703 05255235 10047928 11268409 02254846 05312510 10100603 12293443 03130511 06142768 10154087 12303387 04216072 07314687 10209175 AE 04290616 08022173 11035141 KM 05162369 09082941 11255927 SR

This should help: This is the list, this has to be the result of TP doing, its the best we have at these ages, (that and a few political choices) but who cares about winning JW Championships, I mean besides Tom. The only thing that REALLY matters is the Olympics. Of these players only 5 or 6 have a chance to help USA win a medal in the Olympics. A few more will eventually make Olympic team, but USA has to make decision, do they want to participate or do they want to win medals. SAD!, even so they should be training with the Senior team like the top players from the volleyball power countries are. Another reason why USA will continue to fall behind superpowers.
At the end of tenure, TP and USA will have NO Olympic medals, a number of JW ad YW Championship, Grand Prix, Norceca, Grand Champion medals...but NO Olympic Awards.
Kelly Murphy: Our best hope in that position Ashley Engle: Maybe, but not as a setter Kaylee Manns: Nope Taylor Carico: Now Way! Sarah Rumley: Nope Lexi Zimmerman: No Way Carrie Gurnell: Nope Briana Barry: Nope Jen Doris: Maybe Zoe Garret: Nope Lauren Gibbemeyer: Nope Betsy Smith: Nope Lauren Williams: Nope (Mick's influence) Tara Mueller: Nope Brooke Dieter: Nope Whitney Dosty: Maybe Katie Dull: Nope Julianna Faucette: Maybe Alex Klineman: Maybe Julianna Piggot: No Way (Andy's influence) Kimmee Roleader: No Way (Mick's influence) Collen Ward: Nope Cassidy Lictman: As a libero; Maybe Stevi Robinson: Nope
I just returned from China and had a chance to view men and women's team. Interesting coach Sellinger is now consult of China's Men national team.

This is from the USA site on the men's side explaining the codes.
The following four-digit codes represent the month and day of birth and the last four digits of Social Security Number for all Men's Junior Athletes who are vying for a spot on the 2007 Men's USA Junior National Training Team. For example, if you were born on February 8th, and the last four digits of your SSN are 1234, your code would be 02081234.

So in your infinite wisdom, who should be on the team? Carico to me is a winner, so she's gotta have a shot. Gurnell seems to be athletic enough for the chance.

I thought the list posted was the "official" list and didn't see Hodge's name on it. I was confused, frightened and slightly disoriented...basically the same as always......I think the "official" announcements are on the 9th.

Went to the USA web site and I don't know what all the numbers mean, but there are 3 sets of initials on that list of Girls. I think 2 of them are Ashley Engle and Kelly Murphy.......other than that, who knows.

My intel is that this is THE list. Megan Hodge did not try out. Best guess for setters are Carico and Engle, though of course Engle is probably the best RS when not setting. Murphy can set and play RS as well. Starting OH's have to be Klineman and Dosty or Faucette. Libero candidates are Lichtman, Robinson, and Mueller. MB looks weaker than in past years, IMHO.

Jen Doris and Lauren Williams were the MB's on the Youth team that went to Macau 2 years ago...so at least they have experience. I don't see Dosty playing over Faucette and Klineman. Maybe a 6-2 with Engle and Murphy...Italy killed USA in the bronze medal match over Holloway's block once they figured it out.

China men have been on a slide for a while now, they could not even qualify for the 2004 Olympics. Not sure of their world ranking but there is no way they would be a top 12 team. I guess they need to put on a good show in Beijing so are grabbing anything or one that they can get their hands on.
