I think there's lots of VB players who think about transferring every year, some do, most don't. So what's the point of mentioning it? It's not useful information to anyone and probably not appreciated by the player in question.

A commitment is a commitment. And if a player is having some second thoughts about honoring such commitment, that player should just pack up and leave as soon as possible. I won't trust a player giving a 100% to the team, if their eyes are sometimes glancing at what they feel is greener pastures.

I can see it in her demeanor not personally talking to her. I'm trying to contact her through myspace to get her thoughts on this. I personally hope she doesn't leave, but her Demeanor shows a lot. Again........I haven't spoken to her yet. But when I get a hold of her, I'll let you know.

I don't think Amanda Simmons will leave because next year she'll be a front-runner for one of the starting MB positions. She definitely has the talent to become an awesome middle blocker for the Wahine. I think she'll stay due to that the two middle positions will be open next season after the departure of Gregory and Sanders, or maybe jus one spot if Kaufman has won the other middle position from Gregory.

And Thomas will be coming back from injury and we will have a Fresh in Hewitt with no DI experience. So things change if someone like Simmons were to bolt.

I wouldn't put Otineru in this conversation because she initially committed to the Wahine but was forced to go to a JC because of her grades. Her original committment was made with the Wahine.

Yeah I was thinking about whether to put Otineru there or not because she did originally commited to UH. So yeah, out goes otineru. But how about the others?

I don't know what to say about this situation. I feel that it depends on the athlete. I feel that athlete should go where they feel comfortable and will make them happy. What is the point of someone staying at a college or playing for a team where they are unhappy. That negative attitude will jus rub off on to the team and might affect the team negatively. Therefore, if an athlete is happier somewhere else I think they should transfer and not let that negative energy affect the team.

I am not speaking for Amanda Simmons.....I never did, I never was. If you look through all my posts in this thread, it was all opinion and suggestion for the most part. I just see it through her demeanor sometimes on the court. Maybe she is just a little down on herself or what but I see it and others see it. Maybe its just a Freshmen thing or something.......but I see it. As well as Ferrell who is on the bench. Could be a Freshmen thing too or lack of playing time as well. But like I said, I hope they all stay....because they will bring UH more success. But I do hope to contact her to get her info. I been trying to contact her all this time so if she is reading this....to PLEASE PM me!!!

Pineapple says my opinion is not as scholarly, more racist, and in poor taste. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY...My point has NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE! Again, Ferrell is not a good L2 because she CANNOT do what the position demands: 1st ball contact efficiency, the ability to keep the ball in play when a kill is not there, and finally, she cannot block against quality slide hitters. How does that have anything to do with the color of her skin. Figure out how volleyball is played before you start to name call. My first statement referred to the fact that Wolfgang brought race into the equation, PERIOD. Wolfgang's post was not racist, it was not negative at all about afro-american volleyball players. It was a testament on their athleticism; he provided strong evidence. Reading his posts over the past 3 years, I can tell you that he remarks about anything under the sun, comments that cause you to raise an eyebrow, burp, laugh or fart. You plain simply missed his point by calling him racist. You, on the other hand, rather than, say, simply shrugging Stephanie Ferrell off as a mediocre L2, proceeded to go into detail as to why she is a bad player. You even said she is too short for that position. She’s reported to be 6’1”. Instead of paraphrasing you, I’ll let your words speak for you: “you seem to have no idea that Farrell should not be in the L2 position because that position demands: a player who can handle first contacts e.g. serve receive and digging. Next, the L2 must be able to have OVERHAND ball control as well - keep errors to a minimum and keep the ball in play when a kill opportunity is not present. Farrell can do neither of these things - she is a poor passer and tries to play like a terminator but due to size and lack of experience and technique, she simply cannot terminate enough to play EITHER OH position. Finally, she must be able to help block vs. F1 and be a competent blocking versus a slide. While I have heard good things about her character, she is not a strong enough player to play L2 for UH.” Incredible. You didn’t even add the “yet” in the last sentence. Ferrel just came out of HS and has not been trained nor has played (except briefly without getting a set) at the college level. Your remarks are, thus, suspect and seemingly a personal attack on Ferrell. You practically cut her from college volleyball, the way draftees get cut at the NFL. According to Cindy Luis, here’s what Haley said about her (Honolulu Star-Bulletin): "Stephanie is extremely explosive…She lives to play the game and has a tremendous upside. In juniors, she's putting down about 50 percent of her kills, which is amazing. It's hard enough to get 50 percent when there's no one blocking you." Why has Haley not taken her in himself? Cindy said that because he had taken on a mentoring role with Ferrell, he didn't feel it was appropriate to recruit her. To be fair to you, I have to amend my words to mean that either you have something personal against Ferrell, or Haley is trying to sabotage the Wahine by sending a dud to Shoji and consequently Wahine fans are being duped. Who knows, maybe we are being duped. If the latter is true, it’s nothing new.

Simmons' demeanor looks the same as when Houston first played for UH, and look at Houston's demeanor now.

Gee, for a minute there you made it sound like you guys were tight. You are making this assumption base on "I can see it in her demeanor"? Where ,at the matches and what demeanor? You sure that this isn't something that you created in your own mind?. BTW you do know that a certain member of VT is..well lets just say they are very, very close to Amanda.
