The last 3 pages of "demeanor" posts rank in VT's Top 10 under the category of Most Outrageously Hilarious, right up there with SlopofBarcelonaBoob's "So long and goodbye! I'm never coming back here again!" post. Well at least I made the top 10 of SOMETHING on this Board! no I'm kidding and again apologize.

You've got to be kidding. Why the he!! would she contact someone who is starting rumors about her? And making it seem like they know what they are talking about by saying "I wasn't supposed to say anything." The bottom line is you don't know anything about this. Amanda seems like she is happy. Did you see her celebrating her kills? She also seems to be fitting in fine with her teammates. I just think it's pretty egregious for you to start spreading rumors based on nothing. No rumors here, I said to just wait til the season ends!!! Its my or your guess. When I see her playing, she doesn't look comfortable at times and sometimes she does. And I seen her celebrate her kills but I also seen her look like she doesn't want to even be on the floor EITHER!!! Again look at my previous post and you would get a different feel as I state my opinion and suggestion on what she might do. And if people thought differently, my apologizes. Luke, my fellow Wahine fan, you don't have to apologize untill Simmons decides to spend her sophomore season with the Wahine. I apologize for putting you on the spot but I think a lot of people are projecting how someone is feeling based solely on ones subjective view of someone's demeanor. I don't think it's fair to Simmons to say that she is unhappy about playing time, unhappy about the success of her team, unhappy about the sets she is getting and using that as a reason why she'lll leave the Wahine program after the season. Word travels fast through the VT information lines and this kind of talk can really cause dissension amongst teammates. From my very good view of the court and bench, Amanda appears to be happy. She may be a little shy and somewhat timid on the court at times but she is a freshman playing on a very big stage for a very visible program. By all indication and only her family and friends would know this for sure, she seems to be having a good time here. Hawai'i fans can see the potential in her and look forward to having her be an integral part of the Wahine Volleyball program.

Yes, I agree with BIK, I think Amanda Simmons court demeanor is attributed to her being a freshman and her personality. She does seem a bit shy so hopefully she just needs more time to get the jitters of playing in front of a large, sometimes critical audience. I also noticed she has that nervous kinda face when Dave inserts her (and he was inserting her in tough, tight situations this past week), so if that's not enough to make anyone nervous i don't know what else is. And when she has celebrated, it was when the wahines were relatively cruising and there was not too much pressure on her.
so i just hope she has to develop more confidence with adjusting to the college game and not think of transferring.
and i hope they don't read these boards too much because a lot of people on here are very critical (but it's very understandable) and if a player is feeling unsure of herself, this is not the place to come and visit -- especially if people are bashing!!

The Wahine Volleyball players have nearly rock-star status here in the islands but it also comes with its share of thorns. The "loving Wahine faithful" does more than its share of Wahine bashing when things do not meet up to their own lofty expectations- circa 1997. And as recently as two weeks ago.
I remember reading that Nicky Hubbert- who succeeded AA Ah Mow as setter had a particularly rough time in Hawaii and contemplated quitting several times-
The point is- Hawaii isn't for everybody. I just hope our over-zealous fans aren't the reason why they choose to leave.
That being said- Simmons will do well as a volleyball player and hopefully have a long, outstanding, productive career here in Hawaii.

Hawai'i has had lots of vb players now and in the past transfer in but, I don't recall reading about (besides Ong) any transfering out.

Transfers -- OUT:
Lori Garber, MB, 1997, to Texas Tech Jameka Stevens, OH, 1997, to Cal Melanie Beckenridge (I think that's the name, but not sure), S, 1988, to Washington...sister of Pacific setter Melinda (or vice versa) -- she lost the setting battle to Martina Cincerova
...off the top of my head.

Wasn't her name Melanie Beckenhower or something like that. POINT IS --- the Wahine rarely lose players to other teams. I think this proves the Wahine program is such a good thing for its players to be a part of. And then we gotta look at the transfers that have come in, Yama%*$#a (CSU), Hubbert (WSU), Karratti (Weber St.), Bown (UCSB), Nikolic (Oregon), Gomez-Tukuafu (BYUH), Ilustre (CSUN), Tano (WSU), Lundquist (MSU), Prince (WSU), Fotu (HPU), Mason (Oregon), Duggins (LBSU), Brandt (UCSB)... the team really has become a great place for players to "restart" and become better players.
