One holiday weekend in 1979/80, when Terry was a Wahine star, my wife and I decided to rent a beach cottage at Sunset Beach/North shore. The adjoining cottage was occupied by the Malteres. I got to talk to Terry about volleyball. She was very pretty with such a warm personality and a bright smile. Her mom gave me some fresh ahi belly which I barbecued that evening. That's how I was introduced to ahi/aku belly. I cannot forget Terry ever since. Hey, Terry, if you are reading this post, do you remember that day? I was the very nice guy you talked to on the beach that day by the fire. Remember? Remember the goodlooking guy? ;D

A list of the LEAST favorite Wahine would be interesting. I'm not saying we should do it. I'm just saying it would be interesting.

One more thing, you must promise to stroke my back with your tail.

Angelica Ljungquist -- hands down However, I would like to marry Andrea Gomez. That's a little scary, Wolfgang. Although, I thought that when I ran track with her in high school.

But Deitre Colins must be mentioned: Ljunquist/Bown/Collins- no particular order. a two-time Olympian (1988 and '92). She was named the Broderick Award winner in 1983 and '84 as the top collegiate volleyball player in the country. In 1983, she became the only volleyball player to win the Broderick Cup as the top collegiate female athlete. In her humble self, she said that "Out of all of us - me, Suzanne Eagye and Angelica - Angelica is the best athlete and the better overall player." Perhaps she would have said the same for Bown had she seen her play. I am all broken hearted- Suzanne Eagye has been my all-time favorite.

I kinda like Jennifer Roberts, in addition to Ryan Tsuji. Not the best player but I liked her. You could say she's one of my "favorites". She's from Santa Ana. I don't know where Ryan is from. The Big Island, I think, but don't bet on it. I think he may have spontaneously generated in Manoa.

Ashley Watanabe - Shoji once commented that he didn't think she was very talented. She simply worked hard to get where she got. Plus she's got a great singing voice! Jayme Lee - Nobody was looking to recruit her. She showed up for try outs at the last minute to end up as a starter last year. Should(God forbid) anything happened Liz K. it's a pretty good bet who'll be the starter libero again. ;D Lily Kahumoku - One of her majors is political science. If she runs for office, it'll be interesting to see where and what office she does try for.

Ashley has a wicked float serve. One of the posters here mentioned that he/she plays with a former Wahine in a coed league team and that said former Wahine has a wicked float serve. Hmmmm...could it be?

Last I heard, Ashley still lives in Hawai'i helping run the family business. If that's her, it good to hear she's still playing.
