Don't anyone let BiK goad you into an account deletion bet. This is a situation where you have to choose the lesser of the two evils. The last thing this board needs is to have BiK drop his main persona and switch all his posting energy into his ladeda persona. Or worse, resurrect samurai. Not even close wanker although I do have a ton of respect for one of the Wahine's real fans.

Mai tai's? Don't they serve mens drinks in Hawaii? Gorf can't handle the drink genders. Every time he turns it over to check its sex, he makes a mess.

Lincoln is a respectable middle-size midwestern city with a population of 250,000. The city and county of Honolulu, which is the whole island of Oahu, has around 1,000,000 people or slighly more. The downtown area has around 350,000. The City and County of San francisco which is all you see perched on a hill has approximately 650,000 people. San Francisco has the lowest percentage of residents in the name city of any major metropolitan area. Alameda (1.4M) and Santa Clara (1.7M) counties each have more residents than the entire State of Hawai'i... and that doesn't even count Contra Costa (1M), San Mateo (700K), Marin (250K) and portions of Merced, San Benito, San Joaquin, Santa Cruz, Solano and Sonoma counties. Even with all those people, the Bay Area has six Division I programs and the least favorable ratio of Division I athletics programs to resident population of any major metro area... and the least Division I volleyball newspaper coverage per capita, too, I bet.

Pineapple, I'm saying the same situation with regard to sports entertainment, not night clubbing. Both Nebraska and Hawaii have no (as in zero) professional sports team of any kind to follow, and basically only one major college team to support. I've been to a few (three) Nebraska game, and believe me, your average Husker volleyball fan is as interested in going restauranting and clubbing as my grandmother would be. And when Mr. and Mrs. Yamaguchi settle in to their seats to watch the Wahine play, do you honestly think they were considering tripping the light fantastic on Waikiki as one of the night's entertainment options? Puhleeeze!! If you meant sporting events, then say you should have said sporting events. Don't mislead readers. You said this: "I wonder how many Husker fans would show up to their games if there was simply something other to do in their state for entertainment? Hawaii has much the same situation, except they at least have much nicer weather......... " Literally, it means there is not much to do in either place except womens DI volleyball. But I'm glad you made yourself clear. Because you would appear as an uninformed country girl. Honolulu, like San francisco, is a world class city, and Waikiki is possibly the most famous of all resort areas in the world. Where the Strip In Vegas has casinos, Waikiki has the beaches.

We're also -- generally -- xenophobic, homophobic, sanctimonious and racists. But, yeah, we have our good points, too. Yea...it was a hair sanxtimonious but racist and homophobic. Why do you always associate anyone with religious affiliation as the above mentioned. Come on Ruffda. We have been through this on the other board many times before. I think after Nebraskans being constantly trashed about our life lifestyles or lack of it I was actually trying to point out that we manage to keep busy on things that I deem as important. Pretty sad when good deeds and efforts also have to also be defended.

Let me see. What do people from Midwestern cities do? Its normally called a strange thing called family. Our lives are full but in a different way. We are not that interested in indulging ourselves 24 hours a day. We are about little league, school concerts, dinners for the sick, church, volunteer coaching, attenting parent teachers conferences, helping an elderly neighbor, and so on. We are really all about supporting our kids and our communities. Its probably why employers from all over the nation are recruting our kids out of college because they value and understand the work ethic and integrity involved with most midwestern kids. They have been taught to think a little deeper and value the truly important things that matter. Not about.....how can we indulge ourselves every evening with fine dining and night clubs. Its a bizarre strange concept called good parenting and family. Stay home and actually be a part of your childrens lives and enjoy them . I really hope this comment is not geared towards San Francisco. If it is, I am amazed at the ignorance behind it. Being from the Midwest, I can tell you in terms of raising kids, you can find some of the best parents and some of the worst parents in the Midwest and West Coast. I really wouldn't say midwesterners are more involved more than the majority is just simple. To think, I used to be a husker fan up to I read this comment. Where on earth did you get the opinion that I was attacking San Francisco. You are right. You will find good parents everywhere but I will argue with you on the the parenting issue. I have also lived on the west coast , Denver, etc. While their are wonderful parents at both locations the midwest is much more involved. You can be pissy about it all you want and argue until your blue in the face . It is a totally different set of priorities . Career and social life are of far greater importance too the metropolitan and many believe in quality time with their children which translates as Mommy and Daddy want to party too.

Thats elementary, Watson! Don't even try to defend that area. By doing, so you are insulting it. It's the core of Northern California! The Bay metropoltan area I believe has 9,000,000 to 10,000,000 people. San Fran, however, is the singlemost beautiful city there, in fact, one of the most beautiful in the world because of the Golden Gate and its perched, as Tony Bennet loves to say "high on a hill." If I had my ways, I'd call the metropolitan, from San francisco down to San Jose, "Greater San Francisco."

I want to add that if it wasn't for the fact that I live in Honolulu, it would be my favorite city. I've been there at least 30 times. I was just there in July, and it was like homecoming. I love the Bay area, especailly SF. NOT! ;D
