Hopefully, Arnitz will be healthy. Rumor on the street is that he has back issues, and might not be healthy enough to make a run of it. Its a pretty good list, with some solid athletes. I believe Blough started most of the matches for the youth team last year. But with this group, it will be interesting to see which one of the four setters stands out. 3 of the 4 are college freshmen. Fiers was, but did not train with Stanford all year. According to the FIVB website for the Youth tournament in Mexico last year, in the Setters Statistics, Dion-Kindem had 665 total setting attempts, Stallings had a total of 75 setting attempts, and Blough had 4 total setting attempts.

Although Christy was captain, Soren started last year for the team

I'd say Yoder, Arnitz, and Sander are locked in for the OH. Didn't see Fey play much at Hawaii. Thoughts on his chances? Also, Bantle ended up playing libero at UCLA at the end. Seems a little under-sized for oppo. Wonder what position he was chosen to compete for. Hard to believe to believe USC middle, Benesh, who made all freshman team, isn't a lock. Is David Martin the same as Oliver Martin ? Very tall, but not sure of his passing skills. Rakestraw red-shirted at Stanford I believe. Wonder if he's become more athletic. Certainly is tall enough.

Benesh may be too old. Any college freshman born before January 1 would be out of consideration. Age group is essentially young college fresh, high school seniors, and old juniors.

I'm pretty sure that USAV did their homework to see who was eligible or not. Its a two year window of your birthday. As for the age group itself, that is how its supposed to work for the jr team. The youth team is full of high school soph and jrs.

Bantle will probably put pressure on Dagostino and Enriques for the libero spot; although they are very very good, they have not been serve receiving college level serves for the past year. My prediction for the starting lineup will be Fiers/Blough setting, Yoder as an outside, Dagostino as libero, and Rakestraw and Benesh as middles. Blough has started at Ohio State but from what I have seen at matches, I think he is definitely beatable. I'm not sure who the other outside will be because I have not seen Sander play, but I know Kupono has been doing decently at Hawaii and I'm not especially confident in Arnitz' passing. As for opposite, I bet they will use Martin because of his size and he played Middle/Oppo for Pali in juniors. Arnitz is also a candidate, as with Perniar. Just my thoughts!

Soren is the real deal. Such a competitor and a very good athlete. Also he had a year under Winder and West which means he's probably only gotten better both mentally and physically.

I'm thinking Jackson Bantle is being considered for Libero. He received 355 serves with 9 errors for UCLA this year... that's .975 and about as good as it gets in Division I.
Jake Arnitz (if healthy) is an absolute lock... as is Yoder

Jake's passing has gotten better, so as long as he's health he'll play. I think Bantle is there to get the other Liberos to play harder, but at the same time, he did well for UCLA in the last couple matches, besides shanking match point against Santa Barbara. Also, I think by David Martin, he meant Oliver Martin. He's 6'10 so I can see him playing Oppo. Rakestraw played on the same club team as Jake and I saw that he was real good.

I would not discount Hessenauer at Oppo. Haven't seen him play recently, but he had been pretty dominant in recent years in juniors.

also, I have to believe that Speraw saw something in Hessenauer to recruit him to play at UCLA.

I wonder why Mitch Stahl from UCLA isn't playing? I thought he was playing pretty decently, and it seems like this team needs a good rightside. Also, I'm wondering where Chris Nugent and Aiden from PSU are, because Jay Hosack is an assistant coach and they were on the training team last year. Maybe the A2 team?

Mitch played great this year as a middle. I'm pretty sure he's too old for this team.

Oh right, I was confused because he graduated this past year. Thanks for the clarification.
