BTW, the only set that caught me off guard in that entire second set was the fairly quick set to Murphy out of the middle back. Only one. Yea it was a nice against the grain set. Replay link? I'm on a pc now.

You do realize an aggressive error leads to zero chance to win a point, while a tip gives you some chance don't you? it would be interesting to see how many rallies were won/lost after the tip. Too many times I felt like Russia transitioned the tip dig into a kill almost immediately. US girls need to find the setter more with their tips/rolls. Or at least take out a front row wing player. Yea it was driving me insane...

way too many hitting errors that were just plain hit out or in the net. Floor defense sucked, the setting was too predictable, we still aren't connecting with our middles. pretty much sums this match up.

Why can't they get a decent ball to the middles? the problem has been on going for some time now. Why ? The blocking is bad. Can they get Bown back /jkd ?

Their are times it's ok to play like that but it wasn't today. Sometimes you just have to get more aggressive and break free. Today was like we got punched in the face really really hard staggered...and backed up more rest of the fight. You're suggesting they should have made MORE errors? You need to be punched in the face. My 9 year old says things like that.

The passing wasn't terrible. It was good enough overall with a couple of rough patches. If we took care of tthe ball better on the 2nd and 3rd contacts no one would be commenting. F.ex. That 8 point run in Setn 2 had 1 or 2 bad passes and people complaining about that, but that run was on our offense not getting the job done in the 5+ good opportunities we had. Blocking was also decent overall. We also got a good number of controlled touches that ended up as kills because our defense played so shallow, which I thought Russia exploited well generally (how we can do that and STILL struggle on tip coverage boggles the mind).
As teams adjust to the weaknesses of our defensive (and even offensive) system, is the staff going to make the tactical changes to counter? It seems like there's an attitude of "we're not making adjustments because we are trying to implement the system" and I fear that come the Quarters of Rio when we are struggling, it will morph into: "this is the system we've been running for the past three years, we're not gonna give it up now."

With only a few minor disagreements we're all collectively thinking the same thing. Whether or not this experiment pans out depends largely on this season and next season. We are only one match into the wgp right now, i think we just need to chill out a bit, im starting to chill out after this dismal match from this morning finally.

I missed the match this morning. Is there anywhere to watch a replay of the match online?

I wonder what was going through Karchs mind because honestly he could have easily made a change to give the ladies momentum. Whether it is the middle position, outside, setter, anything to give this team a winning chance. Don't get me wrong, I understand the whole concept of running a certain system but if something isn't clicking. You have to change it up. But then again what do I know I only coach juniors... Hahaha...
In my philosophy, "Change is a must". I'm sure these big girls can handle it.

Did you see the passing and digging today? good or bad passing, it does not seem to matter. For some unknown reasons, Glass can't seem to connect with the middles even with Foluke and them have played together before. If it was Adams or Gibby out there, then we can make excuses. Maybe time for a new setter or something must be done. It has happened with Harmotto too.
