Have to feel for Butler who had an RPI good enough to get them into the NCAA's last year but a sketchy resume left them as one of the last few out, and they split with Xavier, just leaving them outside of the Big East Tournament after finishing with the same record.
Xavier has also been so close to the NCAA's, but Creighton has been playing so well.

Bracket is now finalized... (1) Creighton (4) Xavier (2) Seton Hall (3) Marquette Not sure why Seton Hall has the tie-breaker clinched, but Marquette's story on today's win over DePaul says the Golden Eagles have locked up the #3 seed. The next tiebreaker after those that I listed, according to what I'm told, is record against the conference's best team not involved in the tie. Since Seton Hall defeated Creighton earlier in the year, this tiebreaker goes to Seton Hall.

Seton Hall just beat Creighton in 3. 25-20 25-17 25-16 It doesn't make any difference in the final Big East Standings, but it could make for an interesting tournament since the Hall has beaten Creighton twice and split with Marquette.

That's nice momentum for the Pirates.

That's nice momentum for the Pirates. They'll have an interesting profile for the committee if they beat Marquette in the conference semifinal then lose in the finals to Creighton. They'll be 2-1 against both Marquette and Creighton. Their non-conference certainly wasn't impressive, but 4 wins against teams in the tournament is not something a whole lot of bubble teams can say.

I think DePaul is going to do well, started playing better at the end of the year and they lose no one

The Big East Conference Commissioner Adkerman is not a fan of collegiate volleyball. The fall meeting with Big East athletic directors focused for two hours on women's basketball, one hour on men's basketball and for ten minutes on women's volleyball. She has two full time assistant whose responsbility is promoting women's basketball. When one of the ADs pointed out that the conference had stronger women's volleyball programs than women's basketball programs and the country was turning to women's volleyball as the primary women's sport, her response was, "Not in New York City." (The conference offices are located in Manhatten.

It's nice to see that that type of attitude isn't the sole province of men.

Hopefully for the sake of the Big East, a similar story doesn't play out at Xavier. I understand that.....but that's usually when a coach inherits a struggling program. That wasn't the case here. Looks like they've blown up a competitive team without a plan.
