All matches have concluded.
Your Complete guide to the 2014 NCAA tournament. All matches have concluded
RPI Rankings as of (11/24)
You can visit RK's Future RKPI thread for what the complete RPI rankings should look like.
There is a predicted 2014 NCAA-bracket after the list of the at-large bids.
If history repeats itself, the 32 at large bids listed here will be the ones you see Sunday in the Selection Show. My seedings are probably off, but this is a close representation.

(29) Ohio State
That Leaves 12 bubble spots for the following 21 teams:
(legitimate at-large contenders)
(28) Miami (FL)
(30) Hawaii
(31) Lipscomb
(35) Oregon St
(38) LSU
(39) Loyola Marymount
(40) CSUN

(42) San Diego
(43) Southern Methodist
(44) Ohio
(45) Santa Clara
(46) Utah
(47) Virginia Tech
(48) Pacific
(49) Minnesota
(50) Michigan State
(51) Pittsburgh
(52) Tulsa
(54) Purdue
(55) Seton Hall
Top-Four Bubble Teams
(least likely to be left out)
these rankings are RKPI rankings (11/29)
(37) OREGON STATE - You can count on the Beavs to get in. They have 7 top 50 wins and at least two top 50, with no bad losses. Celebrate in Corvalis! They will be dangerous in the tournament led by Mary Kate Marshall.
(39) UTAH - Love UTAH! From 2-10 in Pac play to 9-11, so impressive. Utah will be in the big dance, led by at least four top 25 victories, they blow the bubble away. (uW, usc, ucla, oregon, etc...) you don't want Utah coming to town!!
(41) Arizona State - Make it 10 from the PAC! ASU has three top 25 wins and 7 total top 50 wins. The PAC resumes and RPI are too good to deny! We'll see 10!
(28) Miami - Miami doesn't have the wins, but I cant see the committee leaving out 28 RPI, especially because they will have two top 50 wins over Pitt and Seton Hall. The Hurricanes are returning to the Big Dance!!
That leaves 8 spots now for 17 spots, and now I'll narrow it down to 16 because..
(52) TULSA is not going to receive an NCAA-bid. I just checked their site to see of their writeup of their sweep today against East Carolina, but they mentioned their season was concluded. Not even mentioning of an outside chance for an at-large bid. I guess once they lost to SMU they realized their season was over. But not to worry! Tulsa's resume is not terrible. Last year, they had a better RPI and were still left out of the NCAA's. Hard to swallow. Sorry Tulsa.
One for One until we get to the Last Four
(35) LIPSCOMB is in because they have a top 25 win, and despite the sketchy losses, have a good RPI, strong finish, strong SOS, and two top 50 wins. I see them in, but not by much.
(55) Minnesota is out because their RPI is too high, with only three top 50 wins but one of them is top 25 RPI. Minnesota finished 5-5, not too strong. Not seeing a bid here, sorry Gophers. Other seasons this resume may get in!
(36) LSU is in because of the good RPI and their two big top 25 wins. Combine that with a 9-1 finish and you ignore their horrible loss to Mississippi State. Strong SOS, count LSU in!
(50) Pittsburgh is out because they only have one signature win over Duke, a 50 RPI, and lost to Virginia Tech twice. I can't see Pitt getting in, SMU's resume is similar (and better).
(42) Loyola Marymount is in because they have two big, maybe one top-25 wins over UCLA & LBSU, and two more top 50 wins to make it 4 wins vs. top 50. No bad losses over 100+, LMU should be in. But not by thaat much!
(48) Michigan State is out because the RPI is just out of range and there isnt enough to supplement. MSU has only two top 50 wins, evrything about their resume is just average. Nothing really stands out to argue them in so.... OUT!
(38) Hawaii is in because they didnt lose to anyone they shouldnt have. They finish with 2 top 50 wins like Mich St, but 10 spots better in RPI, a 9-1 finish, you can't really leave Hawaii out. They should be sent to Oregon or Washington.
(44) Ohio is out because their resume is not that good. It's not that bad, but it's hard to really argue for. They are right at the cutoff line for RPI Only one top 50 win, they do have an 8-2 finish but lost their last two games, including to 100+ RPI Western Michigan. The wins are missing from Ohio's resume. I think OUT.
For the Final Four Teams IN and the Final Four Teams OUT...
Bad News First
(56) Purdue is out because the RPI is too high, and 4 top 50 victories arent good enough to make up for it with no top 25 victories. Not a great finish to the season, Purdue is out. Weak SOS and OOC.
(41) SMU is out because they have one top 50 win and not much behind that. Extremely weak OOC, but 9-1 finish with solid RPI and their one victory is Oklahoma, which is a top-25 win. Still, I can't see SMU in over teams with a better victory and more to support it. Therefore, Southern Methodist is OUT!
(45) Cal State Northridge is out because of their poor finish. Losing three BWC games to weaker 100+ rpi teams for a 6-4 finish with four top 50 wins. I think I could be missing here, but CSUN played itself out of the NCAA's. The 45 RPI is borderline but their performance as of late puts them out. This was a very hard decision.
Good News
(46) Santa Clara is in because they have SIX top 50 wins! Combine that with a top-25 win and a 7-3 finish, I can't leave them out. Their profile is similar to CSUN, but better victories and a better finish in my opinion. Whew - Santa Clara should JUST get in.
(43) San Diego is in because they have 5 top 50 wins with a good SOS. I'm forgiving the sketchy losses because of the SOS and good wins, overall body of work is just squeaking San Diego in.
(47) Seton Hall is in because they are impressive of late and they beat the #1 and #2 Big East teams twice. Marquette(x2), Creighton(x2). Marquette is top-25, so two top 25 wins, four total top 50 wins, a 9-1 finish And impressive victories along the way, I think Seton Hall is the second to last team in the NCAAs.
The Last Two
(49) Pacific is unfortunately the last team out. I wanted to see them in, but they have a weak SoS, relative weak OOC, and four top 50 wins but none top 25. I want to let them in, but the resume just isn't good enough. Nothing is bad besides the SOS, but none of the wins are dazzling. Hopefully I am wrong and Pacific gets in, but through everything I've got on paper, they are out.
(51) Virginia Tech therefore will be the last team in the NCAA tournament, just by the hair on their chinny chin chin. The reason why I include Virginia Tech is because they will receive a bonus for beating two top 25 teams ( Illinois and Duke) but no penalty because none of their losses are 167+. Virginia Tech has the TOUGHEST Schedule out of ANY bubble team, and they finished 8-2. They finished strong. They beat Pitt twice to make it four top 50 victories. This is a bold choice, but Virginia Tech is in.
The following teams were close, but not significant enough to warrant a tournament bid:
(53) Michigan finishes ineligible for the NCAA tournament. If they had won some late tough games they could have finished eligible, but they were trying to do it against the best of the B1G
(56) Xavier yet again is on the wrong side of the bubble. They have a great sophomore OH to work with. Three years straight with a top-60 RPI finish for Xavier, and three-years straight with no NCAA bid. This year their resume was better, but the bubble is tough. (2 years ago they had a top-50 RPI but literally no top-70 RPI wins)
(57) UNLV put together a nice season including topping Colorado State and Western Kentucky, but the overall body of work is not enough for the Runnin Rebels. I thought a while back if they won out including beating Wyoming to split the series, UNLV would have a chance. But it didn't happen. Not one of the first few out, but I don't think UNLV was given no consideration.
(59) Virginia had a solid resume but sketchy losses. The RPI not being good enough is going to hurt too.
(61) Temple was really hot late in the season with a nice winning streak but too many good teams on the bubble are going to hurt them. They were a force in the AAC, hope to see them in the NCAA's in years to come.
(64) Northwestern didn't finish the season strong, but has some talent to work with. We'll see if they can improve in the B1G later on. They looked to be in the at-large discussion for a moment, but drifted out.
Honorable Mention (Teams just outside consideration for At-Larges)
(58) Baylor - Some nice wins for Baylor, but their record means: (ineligible)
(60) George Washington - Hard to lose your first team all conference OH, I suspect this is not the last we have heard from GW.
(63) Ole Miss - Decent record and RPI, if they play a stronger OOC they may have a chance at an at-large in the future.
(69) Wyoming - Just didn't beat anybody besides beating UNLV (twice). Also some sketchy losses. Not a good enough resume. Sorry Cowgirls. But still a decent season for Wyoming, two wins against UNLV is nothing to be disappointed in!
