So, are we actually holding out until 2016 to start the 2016 thread? Defiant! i'm ok with it.
While i love the Tapps, i think they are both one notch too high. HN had much better numbers, actually. Glad that Tionna's results paid off and she got an HH nod.
As mentioned in other threads, it seems teams need an elite Pin to win the championship. I think Gilly, Haggerty and Bate'y all have the potential to be between HH and 2nd team next year...
Awards are nice, Final fours are nicer.

I think the idea was to wait until the awards were announced so we could give the winners proper credit. Don't think there is anything holding us back now...

I agree that Gilly and Bates could improve on this year. They started out really rough, but generally got a lot better, if a little inconsistent from match to match, or even set to set. I'm thinking we may see more from Kriskova as she continues to recover her conditioning. It was really hit and miss this year. Duello is lurking.

I am looking forward to seeing Haggerty in Omaha Friday, and the three MN recruits too. I'll be interested to see how Molly does in addition to watching our 3 recruits play! All four are on the same team too, and Haggerty, Hart, and McLean make up 3 of the 4 outsides for team East. Lots of representation for the killer combo of travel partners...bodes well for the future. Hopefully for the sake of our entertainment we can see the 4 play well and pull out a win.

Yeah...It would be interesting to get Waite's and AWacks perspective on this, although I imagine we are not going to. When was he coaching here?

First I apologize in advance. I was going to wait to start this thread out of respect to the 4 teams still playing. But, I didnt want the PSU/UW thread ger bogged down with talk about next year, so here we are. So, for those living in a cave: lose Chapman, Morales, Kvas, Workman, Mikaelsen, Thompson, Thomas. 3 starters. Gain: Saunders, Williams, Duello, MacDonald, Juley, Morgan Potential starters from that group: Duello, MacDonald, Williams Potential Redshirt: Juley Morgan was also hurt until late in prep. Maybe she would redshirt. So, by position: Rs: Kriskova, Fricano (or Oh) Saunders OH: Bates, Duello S: Carlini, Juley x2 MB: Nelson, Blake, Williams, Morgan DS/L: Morey, MacDonald Discuss. Since we're being polite about starting the 2016 thread, I thought it might be funny to take a look back at the first page of posts to see where we netted out with 2015 predictions. Conference standings: Most people called Nebraska, OSU, PSU, Wisconsin, and Illinois leading conference, but nobody, even outside the B1G, predicted Minnesota in the Final Four and winning conference. I did see one comment about the Tapp sisters and SSS, but that was about it. Briana Holman had also not made her decision when the thread was started, but Nebraska was already a favorite for many. UW personnel changes outside of graduation: Erin Juley (retired), Taylor Fricano (transfer to UNC), and Brooke Morgan (not admitted to school). Credit to Sheff and team for being honest about expectations with Fric, someone who really, really wanted to see the court. In reality, one could understand if she transferred, but she was extremely close with the team. It was really too bad to read about Erin Juley last year... hopefully she doesn't look back on her career as injury-plagued. Finally, glad to see that Morgan found success at UK; everything worked out in the end, but UW might miss depth at MH after 2016. Incoming transfers: Lauryn Gillis (USC) and Jordan Robbins (UCLA). I can't say enough about Gillis--I absolutely love her... sick work ethic, and I expect her to be even better next year. I was honestly shocked when I read about her transferring to UW. Bittersweet with the Fricano transfer news, but exciting, nonetheless. Robbins was kind of a surprise as Juley already looked to be backup and Hilley was slated for 2017. I'm really excited at her potential in the back row and as a second setter; hopefully she's not injured in 2016 (that's for another thread). Overall surprises: I did not expect Williams' path to success to be so exciting. From pre-season predictions to growing pains to HM AA, the kid's got it. MacDonald was a great, feisty addition to the back row. I hope her wrist heals and she's ready to be a leader next year. Duello... so much potential. Many of us were high on her, but weren't sure of the learning curve from high school/small club to B1G. I used to think that a red shirt would have benefited, but I think being a part of high-pressure situations and gaining confidence helped Duello in the end. I hope she continues to improve and competes with Kriskova next year. Speaking of, great to see Kriskova's confidence grow throughout the season. She had spurts of greatness and then spurts of, "where are ya, girl?"... I'm guessing her strength and conditioning will only improve by next year. Saunders, Juley, and Smith seem like great program players and I have a feeling Saunders is going to work her tail off during Spring/Summer. Again, for the 2016 thread, but Saunders' position was a big question coming in to 2015. Miscellaneous: I thought Wisconsin HAD Nwanebu due to rumors of Texas being on the "no-go" list. What else did you predict or not predict about 2015? Did you see a Gillis-type transferring in? Did you expect at least one transfer out of the program? I inserted the final 2014-2017 roster as it stands through December 2015.

I did not see Gillis coming, although some of us got word of a big transfer on the books a couple weeks ahead of time. Nwanebu I never really believed would happen. Morgan was an unhappy situation.
Once Gillis transferred it seemed pretty obvious what the starting team would look like. Although many predicted Bates would slip to DS, I didn't think that would happen. Rainbow was right that AMac would sub as DS for Kriskova. Gillis's defense and passing made really good strides during the year.
That Williams became so great so quick, especially on the block, was a real surprise, especially since early on she seemed completely out of her depth. I was really worried after the first match or two.
I guess I was surprised by how persistent our passing problems were. I was almost thinking we'd be a better passing team than 2014, but we weren't really until the end of the season. I feel Bates regressed a bit at times on that front this year. Gillis started rough but got a lot better. AMacs injury may have been a problem.

Also for fun, and because I refuse to work, 2015-2019 is attached and can be used in the 2016 thread. Anyone have any connections to Haley Warner? Looks like we need some OH depth (and obviously in the middle). Wisconsin Volleyball 2015-2019_12.18.15.xlsx (10.96 KB)
