Watch out for Pace at the 16s level. They are a very talented squad. Comparable to Balboa.

They may have over seeded them on purpose and balanced it out by giving them a tough first day pool. Spri runbird just won the overall Palos points series as a 2s team. Having watched them play I have no doubts they are better than the 40th best team. Runbird (spvb 2s) is just as good as their top team. They made two even teams. SCVA needs to look into these things more. Runbird could very well take the top seed in their pool if they're playing well. So pool 3 matches up HPSTL Royal with SPVB Runbird. First place in that pool moves into a pool with the following teams (assuming these teams hold their spots) - Warren Sixpack or Vortex as the second seed, SMBC as the third and 303 VBC as the fourth. The winner of that pool moves into a challenge bracket and plays the winner of Balboa Bay and Highline to make it into the Gold Bracket. Second place in the original pool 3 moves into a pool with the following teams - HBC as the one seed, either VCVC or NCVC as the two, the loser of Warren Sixpack and Vortex as the third and then the second place in pool 3 as the fourth. The second place team in the pool would then have to play the loser of Coastal v. SCVC and then have to play Team Rockstar to make it into the Gold Bracket. Either way, HPSTL and SPVB Runbird are going to have to run a guantlet of teams just to make it into the Gold Bracket.

15's seeding is what people would expect. Glad to see SASVBC is the #1 seed. In 16's I think MB SURF is way too low at #15 and they ranked A`o A Koa 16-1 way too low at #27. They are really good. In 18's Hawaii Elite was ranked WAY too high at #4. They are a bunch of club-level players. Hitmen in the 16's division got seeded accordingly at #8 but I think SPVB Mizuno should be seeded higher than #18. Coastal should be seeded higher in 18's. Actually if you look at the rosters for the A`o A Koa teams you will see that it looks like the "better" team seems to be the 16-2 A`o A Koa team which is ranked 42nd. Both A`o A Koa teams dont have their full roster in, so we wont really know which one is the "better" team until they update the rosters on the website. Also, I agree with the rankings with the Hawaii Elite 18s. They have National players all over that team. Their outsides are a little undersized but they make up for it with their superb vertical jump. They have solid middles with one at 6'7. They have a setter with good hands (also has Stanley genes in his blood). The libero is one of the best I have seen at this age group. And they rotate opposites but it dosent really matter because they are both really good.

Second pool should be interesting to see how they play against Highline 18s, one of the few teams to beat HBC 18s this year. If Hawaii Elite takes first in that pool they will most probably have to beat Bones 18s to get into the Gold Bracket, if they take second place in the second pool they will most probably have to beat Balboa Bay 18s to get to the gold. Either way, Hawaii Elite is going to have to prove they deserve the overall four seed way before the Gold Bracket even starts.

In the 16's division, one player to watch is Joel Schneidmiller. He is the #1 outside in the Select division for High Performance. He is on Bay to Bay 16-1, seeded 10th. He is 6'6" and can bounce from anywhere. Watch out...

Young, long, and room for improvement because of his already quality skill set. Interesting player to watch for sure

He will probably be the #1 outside in the 2017 recruiting class (Joel Schneidmiller). Every school wants a long and lanky outside hitter that can hit hard.

A'O A koa is not that good.... i don't know why everyone thinks they are great. They are a 27 seed for a reason. i am sure they will better themselves through the tourney, but no way will they finish in the top 5.

After Day 1 for the 17s: LIVBC lost to Bones. Strong play by Coastal and HPSTL. Day 2 Pool 3 is one pool of death tomorrow, with NCVC, Coastal and LIVBC; Pool 6 is another and has Balboa, Bay to Bay, Orlando and Warren Sixpack. Look for 949 Black as a sleeper...they picked up a player from the HBC-18 team for this tournament. Other notable matches include SCVC vs HPSTL, and Pac Rim vs 949 Black.

FINALS - 17s - LONG ISLAND VOLLEYBALL CLUB (LIVBC) vs Southern California Volleyball Club (SCVC) - No one thought LIVBC would compete out west.. They did and proved themselves as a top team in the nation no matter if they win or lose in the finals.. It starts any minute ! - Good luck to both - Lets go East Coast !
