A'O A koa is not that good.... i don't know why everyone thinks they are great. They are a 27 seed for a reason. i am sure they will better themselves through the tourney, but no way will they finish in the top 5.

So what does anyone know about Ryne Benson being released by Bones? Rumor I heard over the weekend. He wasn't there and his name is off their website.

They may have over seeded them on purpose and balanced it out by giving them a tough first day pool. Spri runbird just won the overall Palos points series as a 2s team. Having watched them play I have no doubts they are better than the 40th best team. Runbird (spvb 2s) is just as good as their top team. They made two even teams. SCVA needs to look into these things more. Runbird could very well take the top seed in their pool if they're playing well.

Runbird did push High P to 3 on the first day and overall both had a good tourney. I do have to say High P exceed my expectations good for them interested to see them in Chicago.

They played a shell of what Balboa used to be and SCVC didn't appear to take them seriously enough or were just satisfied with they're bid. They play excellent defense and serve tough so hats off to them.

In the 18s division, it looks like SCVA did a good job with their seedings. The following is the finishing top ten with their original seed in parentheses:
1st - The HBC (1) 2nd - Baja (2) 3rd - HPSTL (3) 3rd - Seaside (5) 5th - Pacific Rim (9) 5th - SPVB Mizuno (7) 5th - SCVC (11) 5th - Coastal (10) 9th - Bones (13) 9th - 949 (8)
The only two teams in the original seeded top ten not to finish in the top ten were Hawaii Elite (4th seed, 11 finish) and Team Rockstar (6th seed, 17 finish).

How did the 2 silver divisions work out? Was it done this way for bid purposes?
Also, a fairly good showing for non-CA teams, going in and "stealing" 3 bids. Did Baja accept a bid, and if not, who ended up getting the last bid at 18s?
How many CA teams will be making the trip to IL? That was the purpose of IL taking WI's 3 bids and making it a big 3 day tournament at a convention center, to draw all teams from all over the country. Last year that did not happen and they had fields of about 30 teams while giving out 6 bids, plus some teams had bids from the CA qualifier. So basically all you had to do was finish in the top 1/3 and you had a good chance of getting a bid. Disappointing turnout for sure. I wonder if this year will be better. My guess is more teams in terms of quantity but not the quality they were hoping for when they set it up this way.

I know several of the teams from the east coast are also sending teams. All the teams are skipping CAM-Rochester which is happening the same weekend. Baja Looks to be the coming. Also Packman from Canada. Really takes away has more impact on the CAM-Rochester tournament then getting California teams out.

Winners of the two silver brackets (949 and Bones) won their bids. Baja does not accept bid which creates a tie between the two 11th place teams (Hawaii Elite and Balboa Bay) for the last bid, I did not hear who got it, but Hawaii Elite is signed up to play at NoDinx next weekend. No California teams signed up for Chicago, a handful of Southern California teams going north next week chasing bids. Only team in the 18s division who is playing next week who has earned a bid is Pacific Rim. Teams most likely to earn bids based on their SCVA Invitational finishes would be Hawaii Elite (11th), Diablo (13th), Team Rockstar (17th), MVVC (25th) or Coast (25th). Three teams going to Chicago in two weeks (HPSTL, SPVB Mizuno and Coastal) already have bids. Six bids to the remaining 60 teams signed up. Teams without bids who played this weekend in California and placed high include Ultimate (13th), LIVBC (13th), Vortex fire (17th), SPVB Runbird (17th) and Ocean Bay who took 9th a few weeks ago at the Holiday Classic. Seems like the teams who win bids in Chicago will be high quality. Over at the Rochester CanAm they have three bids the same weekend as Chicago. Top three teams there look to be Roch Pace Bootlegger, Yorktown blue (17th at SCVA Invitational) and Eden Mizuno (23rd). A few good Southern California teams who could be left without a bid include Balboa Bay 11th place (unless they got the last one from SCVA), Highline (13th) and MB Surf (17th).
